We arrived in the evening and left before dawn so perhaps my impression of the overall experience was influenced by this situation. The area seemed a bit unsafe due to dumpsters close at hand, teenagers in adjacent apartment out on skateboards and bikes with loud music until 1AM.

Second chance.

Chelsea, who checked us in, was wonderful - quick, efficient and friendly. She should be training the other front desk people. When I stayed two weeks before the check in process was a nightmare and I almost didn't come back, but I'm glad I gave it a second chance.

Staff needs training.

When we checked in there were three representatives, each with one guest in front of them and then we were next in line. It took over an hour to get checked in. When we reached the front desk we were told that there were no more double beds, even though I had booked about 4 months in advance. Miraculously they found a room. When we got to our room the toilet was running, smelled and had oily grey water in the tank. They did switch us to another room which was better. The only bright point was Reneisha, the day we checked out, as she helped us with a minor problem and was very nice.

Check in and check out staff could not smile. Like they had something against the customers. We had to ask for cookies because it was not given to us at check in. For the price we paid, we would have expected breakfast included but apparently not. Shuttle bus driver and cleaning staff was excellent. Also, rooms were not soundproofed as claimed. Could hear noise from next room and someone blaring music outside all night. Was trying to get some rest after an 8 hour overnight flight delay but disappointed.

Good, but no baggage storing.

This hotel was great for what it is- friendly helpful staff and a free airport shuttle. My problem is that you cannot leave your bags with the front desk if you check out. Apparently they are not consistent with this policy because the guests before me did. When I pointed this out, the front desk person that I had said, "I know. They shouldn't have been allowed to, we're no longer supposed to." She told me they would only keep bags for guests who were checked in. All staff were polite and professional. In all the years I've been traveling I've never experienced this baggage issue and feel it should be posted somewhere.

Poor at best

The room we were in 1108 was very noisy from the traffic etc outside. While I understand it is an airport hotel I had asked for a quieter room & would have preferred to be on the other side of the main road. Again while I understand it is a New York airport hotel the price for everything like food etc was astronomical with no options otherwise. I forgot slippers & when I asked for some I was told “we don’t have those at this hotel” when I tried to change a large bill I was told there was no cash & to go ask the valet man for change….no thanks. I should think an establishment such as this would be more accommodating. The shuttle from the airport & back was over crowded & I felt there should be more than 1 van during peak hours. That being said the drivers could not have been more pleasant. I’m not sure I would return to this particular hotel especially with the high cost of staying there. Just not worth it.
