Rooms are terrible. The first room they put me in had paper thin walls and you could hear the weights of the elevators scraping up and down every time the elevator moved. The noise was so unbearable that I asked to move to another room. Room number two had the sound of a jackhammer outside the window. Apparently it is part of the heating system, some sort of motor or fan that is not working correctly and sounds like construction equipment, but the windows are paper thin, so it’s like somebody is doing construction in the room. I went down and they moved me to a third room, and this one, no jackhammer, but when the heating system was on, it was loud, there was some sort of banging sound from it, and the sound of water pressure building up and then releasing. Irregular and loud enough that it meant, I could not sleep.
The only solution is to leave the heat on during the day, and then turn it totally off at night, so that there are no crazy noises coming from the machine and you can sleep. So I had four nights of terrible sleep.
The walls are nicked, the carpet stained the bathroom old. The entire building is tired and rundown with the exception of the lobby and the rooftop bar both of which are OK.
The rooms are cheap, which is good because they feel really, really cheap, which I guess makes sense. But it could be so much better than it is.
