The service was great and the staff very polite however the room was old and in need of some refurbishment. It just felt worn. The carpet was old. The paint on the bathroom door was chipped. The bathroom was tiny. Not what I was expecting for about $250 a night.

Great price, very friendly and helpful staff, excellent location, clean room. We were pleasantly surprised by how high the water pressure was in the shower. There were two very minor problems: the shower room had no extractor fan, so it steamed up like crazy, and the electrical sockets were few and inconveniently placed. Other than that everything was great!

Door keys are often iffy at the Empire. This was no exception. The desk staff is often brusque, but today's was slightly better. The rooms are always well-cleaned. The hotel is well-worn, but there have been minor updates in some of the rooms with renewed wallpaper. Heat and a/c is functioning, but the controls are hard to operate. Many of the cleaning staff are very nice, but some are not. The doormen are very severe with non-guest visitors, but very polite to paying guests. Arranging a business meeting in the lobby is risky. Did I mention that the front desk is often quite rude? One of the elevators was out of service. This hotel is all about LOCATION. Lincoln Center is the best! The restaurants, coffee spots, and bars in the neighborhood are all pricey, but the Empire in-house costs are much higher than others in the vicinity. Unlike other NYC hotels in its price range, there is no in-room coffee, lobby coffee, or other amenities. One freebie: a small bottle of water upon check-in. This was once a great hotel. Now, not so much. It is convenient.

Great location, dark halls, dark quiet rooms (good for sleeping, hard to see what your doing).Room needed some repair. A fun place, most of staff is super friendly and nice, but one of front desk personnel was not approachable and we would wait for a friendlier one before approaching front desk! Basically, will always plan to return.

Do not stay at this hotel. Go anywhere else in manhattan The heating unit in our room didn’t work. Which is just lovely when it’s November in NYC. The knob for adjusting the temperature in the shower was seized. Was basically stuck in screaming hot. Could only have quick showers before the water got too hot to touch. The bed side lamps flicker like some kind of horror movie…. Come to think of it that is actually fitting. The whole room was something out of a horror movie. Room service didn’t leave a sheet under the comforter either. I could go on For $400 CAD a night it’s unacceptable Avoid at all costs

Check in was not accommodating. I paid for Standard Room, 1 Queen Bed. He gave Standard Room 1 Double Bed, no blackout drapes, no chair because the room was small. I needed a chair so I can do my work. The room was cold even when I put the thermostat to the highest temperature. There was draft by the window. I had to put towels to control the draft. I reported to the receptionist who assigned me to the room ASAP that I paid for Queen Bed, was showing him my receipt, he told me that was Queen Bed by their standard. I did not argue. I have queen beds in my house I know the difference. Just for your information for your other customers.

Staff was excellent and rooms were very clean, which is what is the most important for me. It could use some updating and repairs. There is no ice or water in rooms but asking at the front desk and bottled water is given to you. The location was excellent as our activities centered around Lincoln Center which was across the street. It was also convenient to other locations of interest. I would stay again but would like to see more amenities such as ice,water,and coffee offered.
