We enjoyed our stay here. The location is perfect and the room fit all of our needs. We also enjoyed being able to store our bagage while we still had time to explore before our flight. The staff was all friendly and helpful.

I had a re-occurring problem with my heating and cooling system. No one came to fix it, and it was either an icebox or an oven. They gave me a portable fan. I paid over 1,000 dollars for this.
How it was left after someone came to talk a look.
My dance company that was performing across the street at Lincoln Center in the Koch Theater sponsored by Chanel. Yes, Chanel.

This was one of the most terrible hotel experiences I have ever had in NYC. The hotel is old I completely understand that. What I don’t understand is allowing the rooms to overflow with water on the floor & giving you two towels & placing one rolled up on the floor when you arrive because they clearly know it occurs. The room keys kept deactivating every time I left my room so it didn’t feel safe, or convienent. Having to go to the front desk 30x to ask for a key to be reactivated is crazy. One of the staff members gave me terrible attitude about it. This hotel is not handicap accessible at all. There’s literal liabilities everywhere with safety. It was cheap & clearly explains why, the room was also way too dark & depressing with 0 natural light. The rooftop is great but pool is terribly small. Don’t think I’d stay again.

I stayed at the Empire Hotel and unfortunately had a disappointing experience. I couldn’t sleep due to the constant mechanical noise coming from the air conditioning system. On top of that, the bathroom was quite rusty and felt poorly maintained. Definitely not the restful stay I was hoping for.

The hotel was humid and literally had mushrooms growing out of the wall. We requested a room change and we were moved to a unit with an air conditioner that could not handle the heat. Staff was nice but I’m sure they couldn’t do much.

Good location, bad hotel

I was so underwhelmed given the photos and location of the hotel. The hotel was in major need of renovation everything in the room was in poor condition. Our mini fridge was missing... the water pressure was beyond bad. on top of that the air conditioning barely worked. We also didn't feel it was as clean as it should be. At the end of my stay i realised they accidentally charged my TWICE for the entire stay.

This property is very tired. Terazzo shower floor is broken up. The bathroom door swollen from humidity, with mold in the ceiling. Wall paper is peeling off, the a/c is super loud. White sheets and towels are actually grayed out and didn’t smell fresh. The room was not ready until exactly 3pm. The double queen room is so small that you cannot open a luggage. Both maintenance and cleaning team quickly responded to broken fixture and missing towels. The reception team was very courteous. Easy access to Central Park, and subway station..

Pros: A nice hotel away from the crowds. Great location, comfortable room. Con: they charge a “residence fee” per night which is not included in the price they show online. I know lots of hotels in NYC are doing this, like charging “resort fees”. Such dishonest baloney. Makes it impossible to budget hotel costs.
