Overall, the room was pretty shabby and beat up with lots of dents and scrapes and chipped finishes. The room was quite spacious for NYC, with high ceilings and the king bed super comfortable with a well designed large wardrobe. The bathroom was absolutely freezing at all times, and smelled of the neighbours constant pot smoking. The bellmen and lobby staff were very friendly and courteous: in contrast with the checkin staff who were both cold and unwelcoming. The food was meh, and the meals very overpriced. It was a shame that the grand history and colourful splendour of the property has been washed away with beige modernization. It’s a nice location, better than the surrounding chain hotels, but not worth the price.

The room’s size was great for a NYC room but it wasn’t a luxury or 4star hotel. The decor of room was minimal and very basic. The employees were very nice and helpful. The valet was $165 which even for NYC was over the top. Also, the breakfast buffet was $50/pp but didn’t offer much. Pastries/scrambled eggs/sausage/bacon and other cold items. Would not stay again
