Loved the location. Room was a bit outdated. I understand it's an older hotel so I don't think there's much they can do. Hated that they charged to store luggage, and didn't take cash.

The room was thoroughly clean and had the simple basics we were looking for our stay! The location is closely centered to everything we were set to do in tge city with perfect walking distance. It is safe with the rooms well monitored with security at the elevators . The staff is efficient and responsive.

Excellent location, walking distance from Penn Station, lots of food options (there’s an attached Italian place, steakhouse, and diner). My only complaint is you have to run the hot water for almost 10 minutes for the water to get hot. Very secure with pleasant staff.

Very good hotel…but there are some weaknesses. Rooms…or at least my room ….lacked a small fridge and a coffee maker. These small amenities are pretty commonplace these days. Ive personally noticed fridges and coffee makers in all of my last half dozen stays at other properties. Why the New Yorker Hotel does not update these options is a mystery. However, its is a very good property…good dining options…close to a number of subway options …and near Madison Square Garden.

Not what I expected. Rooms were so small we had no room to walk around. When aomeone showers next door it sounds like they are in your room and the turning of the shower knobs are incredibly loud that it wakes you in the morning from someone next door. The shower was scalding hot and couldn’t make it better. All of that said, it was so convenient from a touring perspective and transportation. The website on Expedia also lies that there is parking on site. It is a half block away and you leave your keys with them. Also, the hotel charges you per bag to keep your luggage after checkout.

Watch for hidden fees

The location and service met all of our expectations. We had a great trip. The staff were friendly and helpful. Our only beef was the bill we received at the end of our stay with the daily $35 fee we were unaware of. I don’t know if the disclosure for that tidbit was hidden by them or by booking through hotels.com, but it wasn’t a happy surprise.

Super convenient to be right by Madison square garden and the train station. Love having a spot right in the city, but still walking distance to everything else I like to see in NYC. Space is honestly a bit limited, but that's to be expected.
