A hidden gem. Don't stay at outrageously priced hotels in Manhattan. Instead stay here where it's just a 5 minute walk to a train station that will get you into the heart of Manhattan within 15-20 minutes. The hotel itself was lovely and I was impressed with the amount of space my and my friend had in the twin room... especially since it's New York! (our previous stay before this was in a cramped room that was half the size for almost the same price).

Lovely boutique hotel

Parking was a couple of blocks away but we found a space on the street practically across from the hotel. Room was lovely and staff was kind and efficient. Would have enjoyed someplace to eat or shop nearby but it was a completely residential area.

I will definitely be back. Its a perfect place to hide from the big city. I loved the design of the room. From what I remember its a boutique hotel, family owned, and artsy. I think the only thing i could complain about was that there wasnt much opportunity to really talk to the front desk, but the little interactions we had were good either way. After a long day it i was happy to come back to a very comfortable bed.

Like having your own apartment

We loved our home away from home. What a unique find! It was amazing to have a separate living room and kitchen area, not to mention a huge private patio that was especially amazing lit up at night, with views. We were wowed! All this for a very reasonable price. An incredible find. Plus the staff is super friendly, and the lobby doubles as an art gallery. SO cool. The neighborhood felt very safe and walkable and had a great vibe. It was easy to get to the subway or go eat nearby. We would definitely stay here again. I think it was supposed to be able to sleep 3 if you included the couch, but I don't think that was realistic for our particular room.

Our host was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the area. Since this was an unfamiliar neighborhood, we really appreciated the welcome and guidance. We loved our room! We were disappointed that there wasn't a roof deck as advertised. We liked that they featured a local artist in their public lounge space.

This is a small, quiet hotel with limited service. The staff is generally fine, but nothing exceptional. One major issue is the poor room insulation — sound easily travels between rooms, which can be disruptive. Overall, it’s a basic place that works if you’re not expecting too much.

Our stay here was really nice. This location was convenient to all of our NYC tourist attractions while giving us a ‘home away from home’ feel in its charming design aesthetics. This is not the typical hotel in terms of amenities with dining/room-service but that did not detract from the experience, with local deliveries and a corner deli that was walkable. We also really appreciated the friendly staff and no fuss vibes around housekeeping or any needs we had while our family of 3 and dogs settled in for our vacation. I would stay here again and encourage anyone reading this who is looking for a more quaint hotel experience to check out the Modernist Hotel in Long Island City on your next trip to New York.
