I often travel to NYC and regularly stay at hotels in Queens, and I rarely leave reviews. However, I felt it necessary to alert the management of Best Western Jamaica about my recent experience. On Friday, October 31st, a front desk clerk informed us that our Expedia booking was for a basement room for two nights (October 31st and November 1st). I showed him that my reservation made no mention of a basement or lower level and explained my severe breathing and allergy issues, yet he insisted there was nothing he could do and kept claiming that all rooms were prebooked. We asked to speak with the manager.
After waiting nearly an hour, Manager Rey Torres arrived around 2 p.m. His behavior was rude, dismissive, and unprofessional. He blamed Expedia for the situation and openly stated that he “didn’t care” and couldn’t assist us. Meanwhile, several guests checked out, and a quick search on Expedia showed rooms available, directly contradicting his claim that the hotel was completely full.
This experience was deeply disappointing and far below the standards I have come to expect from the Best Western brand. I strongly urge corporate management to review staff conduct at this location and retrain Mr. Torres in customer service, professionalism, and guest relations.
