Lovely hotel in a handy location. All was going well after check in and the room was very nice. However, where this hotel falls down massively is when you actually go to sleep. By far the noisiest hotel room I’ve ever slept in. They put us as a family of four with two young kids, in the room overlooking the railway tracks and all we heard all night was the trains coming and going and screeching on the tracks. There is also a very noisy bar outside which was playing loud music with people shouting until after 2am. Our room had the original wooden, single glazed windows, which didn’t help. A shame as the hotel was nice but I wouldn’t stay here again when visiting Manchester.

1 night stay

We stayed for one night. The room was small, clean, nicely decorated. The bed was comfortable but our sleep was interrupted by the intermittent noise the fridge made. Nice accessories in the bathroom. Good shower. Beautiful building with an interesting history. We did get lost on the way to our room but the staff members we bumped into gave us directions. All the staff were polite and helpful, with the exception of the bar staff in the evening who were blunt, almost rude. We went down for breakfast at 9.30am and there were no clean tables left so we ended up clearing a table ourselves. A member of staff soon came to help and apologised. The breakfast buffet offered a good selection of food and it was delicious. The late checkout time of 12pm was a bonus.

Moderate hotel

Hotel has nice traditional features and no faults on the service however unfortunately the room we stayed in was very noisy all night long with trains going by and breakfast at £22 per person was a buffet (plenty of local restaurants nearby that we could of had a great breakfast at for cheaper). For value for money we would select a different hotel in future.

Rooms nice and clean but breakfast was a shambles

If you are short there is absolutely no mirrors you can do your make up in. Air con was difficult to know how to switch on especially in the middle of the night. Coffee machine in room wasnt working correctly. Bed was very comfy and it was very clean. Came down for breakfasts and couldnt believe how messy it was 90% of tables absolutely covered in plates. Coffee was forgotten about and then when they brought it, it was cold
