I booked a suite in the hotel as a treat for me and my husband's 10 year wedding anniversary. The car park was full so we had to wait a while for someone to leave. The hotel is beautiful but I was a bit underwhelmed at the room. I expected it to be an open plan room but the sofa area and bedroom were divided by a wall so the bedroom felt a bit claustrophobic. The sofa area was wasted on us as one of us didnt want to sit in the sofa area and one be in the bedroom. I called reception to see if all the suites were the same layout and was told yes and we actually had one of the larger ones, I wouldn't like to see one of the smaller ones! Overall very poor value, £466 for a small bedroom and bathroom with no breakfast or parking included! Ending on a positive note the hotel is a stroll over the bridge to the Cathedral and the staff were very polite and friendly.
We were given a room in the annex, the walk there is grim , decor is knackered, and the hallway stinks. The room is very bland, and depressing. Not that we used the TV, but it’s screwed to the wall facing the wrong direction. The breakfast had its normal ‘English breakfast ‘ with very pale bacon and sausages. There were only one sort of sweaty cheese, and one salami. Service was terrible.
It shouldn’t be allowed to come sweaty from the gym to the restaurant, so gross - where are the manners?
I will not come again, nor would I recommend this place.
The hotel was nice enough to hold our two large suitcases, while we travelled to Edinburgh. I don't think we would have survived Edinburgh if we had to carry around that baggage.
Weird thing with return was that the room was a ways from our previous room, but was bigger with a nice bathtub.
This hotel ended up being perfect. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location was amazing, being very close to everything, the station, York minster, the Shambles and the art gallery.
The restaurant was good as well, even though we only ate there the first night.
We fully recommend this hotel.
My stay at The Milner York Hotel was soothing, relaxing and helped me to detox. The staff were efficient and friendly, my room was of best standards and the hotel overall was of very high quality. And I also found it was super affordable for a one night stay! Thank you so much for making my experience memorable. I will be back for more!
Great room that felt luxurious. Good size pool. Quiet hotel that had everything we needed. Only downside was the chain lock on the door was practically hanging off, but it didn't affect the main lock of the door.
Really Loved the Garden room, staff were very friendly and super helpful, our room was a lovely size (few scuffs on the walls here and there) it was very clean and it had everything you could ask for. The Restaurants temperature was a bit cool and so too the bar but nice all the same. I thought the parking charge was a bit pricey to be honest, but at least there was parking. All in all we really had a lovely time and would go again.
Really handy for the railway station, clean and spacious. Lovely room with great view. Food not exceptional and service in the restaurant and lounge was slow.
Me and my partner have stayed for the night and explored York. We have been in the superior king room, very spacious and clean. Lovely bed good air conditioning in the room. The staff were very friendly. The building was grand, well maintained and in a good location for the station.
Loved the location. Easy walk to the train station and into the medieval section of York. Beautiful and relaxing areas to sit and meet and friends near the lobby. Staff were very responsive and attentive to our needs.
Perfect location for arriving by train and exploring york. Staff were all incredibly helpful, polite snd professional. The option of being able to leave your bags with the hotel before and after check was great. Room was ok, bed was adequate for our night stay. the hotel does recognise that not all rooms are perfect as it is a older building.
