Very happy to receive a room upgrade. First time in 40 years of hotel stays. As usual the staff are helpful, polite and friendly. The room was well presented and clean. The chocolates were enjoyed by both of us, thank you. Only small issue is the WiFi was very poor. We're booked in again later this year

Had issues with the room not being clean- sweets on bedside table, bathroom & sofa bed caked in dust/grime & clearly never been cleaned. Had to ask 3 times at reception before the room was properly clean & ended up discussing with a second manager on checkout as the one discussed with initially offered part refund as she was unable to move us to a different room then never got back to me. The manager (Peter Steadman) who eventually sorted things out for me was excellent and took my complaint seriously. Shame it needed to come to this though. Other than that the hotel was great - comfy bed, shower and bath in bathroom, nice breakfast, pool
