Everything good, staff excellent - we had a problem with the air con in our room which was not dealt with or any redress given as it was a hot night and affected our sleep/comfort. Could have done with being tidier/cleaner in the public areas.

Great location, tired hotel

The hotel just needs some TLC. Had to wait ages at reception to be checked in and although the decor is trying, it’s just outdated and mid-matched. So frustrating as it could be an absolutely lovely hotel.

Game of two halves

Staying in hotels can be made or messed by the people you interact with. The frostiness of the receptionist was fortunately balanced and thawed by the warmth of the breakfast host. Hats off to him, though I wouldn’t return to be greeted by her again. Also, my basement room was boiling, and too hot. Great breakfast, and nice overall hotel just more attention to hire the right staff for right jobs.

Historical hotel

Old hotel with character in historical central location. Hard & soft furnishings tired, musty smell. Ensuite bathroom well appointed. Booked 2 "deluxe" rooms for 3 nights. I wouldn't class them as "deluxe". Requested to move as our rooms were at the back overlooking air conditioning units. Room was dark, dingy, carpet stained & musty smelling. Receptionist receptive, apologetic and immediately changed our room which we were grateful for. Lovely bar which also serves as the breakfast room. Breakfast host was clearly stressed, no greeting, we felt as though we were an inconvenience to him. The staff on our last morning were both friendly and welcoming.

A quiet gem in the city

I've stayed in several hotels in Nottingham over the years and this is definitely my new favourite. The staff are lovely and genuinely mean when they say if you need anything to ask. The highlight apart from this is the hotel's location in the heart of the city, but away from the thoroughfare. It's lovely and quiet whilst being close to everything you can need. I will definitely book again in future.
