The check in process took far too long. We had x5 rooms and were all put in accessible rooms (not requested) which required additional forms to sign at check in. My colleague also could not get into his room as the battery died so had to be moved to another room without access to his belongings which were inaccessible in the room. Generally the trip was made more difficult than it needed to be.

We first arrived at the wrong hotel. As just around the corner is a hotel with the same name. Apparently this happens often? The room itself was not necessarily dirty, just felt grim and small, we were put into an accessible room, which isn’t an issue, it just felt clinical The breakfast was included in the price, however, if you’re going to charge everyone breakfast, then at least have enough room to seat everyone. We went down to breakfast (which was just an extension of reception) far too busy, you couldn’t get a seat. Five of us were sat around a two seater table (well two sat, three stood! To eat breakfast) And breakfast if you could actually fight your way to it, was hardly anything available. Both juice machines broken, no cutlery. One guest was stood next to the toilet eating his breakfast, and stirring his coffee with a fork. (As did I) It felt like a hostel for backpacking youths as opposed to a holiday inn.

Poor value

Manchester no longer a good value destination. We've stayed her loads of times but it's just getting too expensive for the experience. Breakfast is a shambles, no juice, tea/coffee machines out of order, no cutlery and empty tables left too long with dirty crockery and cutlery. Would think twice before booking again.

Lovely stay.

I had a lovely one night stay at the holiday inn express Manchester. The room was a family room, the beds were comfortable with fresh white bedding, television, tea and coffee facilities and a huge shower en suite. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the free breakfast was a great touch. The location is fantastic just a few steps to the northern quarter. I would definitely stay at the hotel again.
