Room was ok, clean. Ceiling paper peeling. Could do with a little tlc. Paid for breakfast but really was not worth the money. Very little choice. Continental breakfast no croissants, no crumpets only white bread, 1 muffin choice, 1 jam choice. Very poor.

We weren’t aware until we checked in-even after checking in online- that you need a photographic ID for the lead guest and nearly couldn’t check in. The hotel must have been magnificent at some point in the past but it’s basic and a little bare now, which is a shame. The attached bar and red have been refurbished and look lovely. The breakfast was ok if you like a full English or similar- but other than cornflakes there is not much else on offer.

Keep away. I had mites in my bed. Walls between rooms were very thin so I other guest bouncing on his bed reflected onto mine. Not good at midnight. I could hear his coughs like he was next to me. I will not be using Britannia again.

I would put excellent but I don't like the 10am check out unless paying extra, especially when my arrival was not sure if the room was ready because I arrived around midday. Thankfully my room was ready. Luckily I was leaving my room anyway at 10.15 but had received a knock on the door to remind me of the overdue 10am. Just something I have never experienced before and I personally don't like it. I love the hotel, ticks all boxes but this weird 10am check out was not clear to me when booking via ebookers. Only one plug in the room is a little restrictive too. Otherwise great

Worst hotel ever! Staff are very rude and unhelpful. I had issue at night and the staff were unable to resolve any issues. Would not stay here even if it was given to me for a free for a month! Bathroom very dirty, water so hot nearly burnt myself. Paid extra for window and the window was broken would not close. Did not have a telephone in the room.
