Booked in here after a bad stay at another hotel (where we checked out early) and it was fantastic. The reception team were amazing and said we could have our room at 12pm which was 3 hours before scheduled check in. We actually got a room we didn’t like at first and they swapped it instantly no problems asked. We had a check in call a few hours after checking in and the breakfast team went out of their way to make us feel looked after. This is a dog friendly hotel and our doggos had a lovely relaxing stay. We always stay regularly with marriot so have come to expect this type of great service. Will be back very soon!
We arrived and they offered us a complimentary upgrade and wow we stayed in the junior suite and it was brilliant the receptionist was great! overall great stay and would recommend also offered to keep our bags when checked out to save us carrying them

Noisy hotel
It was a city break and the hotel is directly with in the city so I expected some noise , but the hotel inside was louder than the outside on a Saturday night ! Constant door banging that shook our room all night and morning, there was as argument involving a couple that led to screaming etc but you can help that. The rooms are really small and not a lot of places to put your belongings, kept finding bits from last travellers like jewellery and rubbish, Shame as breakfast and service really good and couldn’t fault it !
I really can’t fault this hotel. It’s in a great locations, very central, about 5 minutes walk from the station if coming by train which we did. Not sure though what parking arrangements are if any. Great breakfast choice - cooked breakfast choice on a menu but rest if buffet style. Would highly recommend
We were really impressed by the central location, great for popping out for a drink or mooch then heading back whenever we liked. I was disappointed by the cleanliness of the room, especially the bathroom. The decor is a little odd, it could be a really stunning place, just needs a bit more love. We had a great waitress for breakfast, but the people on the main reception were always a bit blunt/flat. Ok for a stay which cost half as much, but left us a little wanting overall for the amount we paid...
Great location, nice bar and restaurant. Room could have done with a bit of updating and we were right next to the air vents with blurred out windows so no view and quite noisy.

Well at least the room was warm....eventually
We were assigned a lower quality room than we paid for. When we addressed this with the staff, they lied about the accommodations and said we were given a room with a king bed...but there is an obvious difference between a "king" and the provided double mattress. The heater didn't work in the room, but we were told it would be "reset", obviously the space heater in the room before our arrival told us it would not be fixed. After much discussion, we were finally given a room with a working heater and away from the noisy alley. We were also given complimentary drinks for our trouble, but when we redeemed them, we were given trouble for trying to get drinks.
Overall poor experience and left feeling like we dodged a bait and switch. There weren't pros on this trip and the stay was exhausting because of the blatant lies.
Stayed there on Christmas and couldn’t get a meal at the restaurant on site because we didn’t have reservations but only 2 tables actually had people eating with an otherwise empty restaurant. Everything else in town was closed.
We had a very nice stay at the Abbey Hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was delicious and abundant. Centrally located near the Abbey and the Thermal bath. Also walking distant to the many shops and sites.
