We had the Queen Mary I superior suite which was gorgeous. It had the biggest window of all the accommodation rooms. The bathroom had a stained glass window which was so unique. Everywhere I went in the Castle and its grounds I was awestruck by all the details. We did the History Walk with Phillip which was so interesting to hear about Edward Stafford and Henry viii.
The church next door is stunning too.
We had food in the bar as we felt the main dining menu was a bit over the top, and we’d already paid a lot to stay 2 nights. The bar food was very tasty. We had the Charcuterie board the first night and then toasted sandwiches, a child’s burger and a child’s hotdog the second night. Portions were generous and the child’s burger was adult sized! We enjoyed the mocktails. The strawberry one is like a milkshake. The grounds are all amazing, and it feels like you’re in a fairy tale setting. We did a wedding style photo shoot to celebrate our upcoming 15th anniversary. We have captured some fabulous memories in the photos our friend took. Thanks to everyone at Thornbury Castle for a fantastic stay!
The castle was beyond any expectations we had! The food was beyond wonderful! We had a six course meal in the dining room. We were blown away by the cleanliness, the attentiveness of the staff, the property itself! Everything was just wonderful! We are actually hoping to go again soon!
Absolutely loved this
Stayed in the Jane Seymour suite and it was wonderful… worth every cent!
The castle is stunning and is a once in a lifetime experience. Unfortunately no ghost stories to report but it’s a stunning place to stay.
Amazing venue, steeped in history. Our room was beautiful and of a very high standard. The taster menu was exquisite. All staff were attentive and friendly. Would definitely recommend.
Amazing place. Fabulous resturant. Most comfortable bed...and the staff couldn't have been more helpful and professional.
All the above with the absolute privilege if staying in a magnificent location.
We will be back!
Congratulations to the whole team.
A CASTLE! How amazing is that! And a GREAT price! The staff was lovely! I can not boast about them enough! Super kind! Super helpful! Great attitudes! Like they love their jobs! It shows! I WILL be returning and spending a few days here, on a mission to just stay at the Castle and relax. No sight seeing, nothing but this Castle! In love with it!
This was truly special. I took my 10 year old daughter hoping it would be worth the bus ride from London, and it absolutely exceeded my expectations. We rented Tudor costumes and walked all around taking lots of photos. My daughter was in heaven. The Anna of Cleves room was luxury accommodations and absolutely worth it. The bed was so comfortable! The three course dinner was delicious, and my daughter was allowed to order off the kids menu which she found to be exactly what she wanted. Breakfast was great also! The staff couldn't have been nicer and really seem to enjoy their jobs. I think it is perfect for a one night magical stay. It was a splurge and it felt like we got more than we paid for! We certainly made the most of it and will never forget it.
It was too hot to stay in a castle without Aircond, otherwise a quaint bedroom and interesting castle experience. We were excited to enjoy the legendary Relais & Chateau experience but disappointed at the limited staff on hand and very disappointed with dining experience. In all an unexciting stay with funeral dining atmosphere.
The property is amazing, nice gardens.
The staff are not warm as we expected. The dinner menu is not much of varieties and too expensive and the wine is also too expensive
Room is nice and the bed is comfortable
I do not think we will return
