Staff were as usual friendly and helpful.
In a lovely position on the front.
What lets the Grand down is the lack of parking, they have now lost free parking in the rail station, so you can park in a rugby ground over the road for £5 per day or in their "garage " which is really a large shed for £10 .
Having said that we really love the hotel and will come back 2 or 3 times a year as usual.
Great location, friendly staff. Very nice room, warm and comfortable bed. Hot reliable water. Very good breakfast and dinner. Swimmers pool a little tiered and cooler in the changing rooms.
Time is relentless but they are trying hard to reverse its effects....The beds are amazing but why cant they wait the outside of the building....it would look amazing!

Quick break away
Warm welcome, quick check in.
Lovely, large area with comfortable settees to sit in and enjoy a view of the sea.
Room (standard double) a reasonable size, comfortable bed. Bathroom was a little dated and the shower was tiny- would’ve been better to have an over the bath shower or my preference take the bath out and have a large walk in shower!
Breakfast was quite good - good choice of hot and cold items but cheap orange juice. Lovely view of the sea while having breakfast.
Tried to book the restaurant for an evening meal but couldn’t as the restaurant was at capacity and therefore the bistro was closed as well.
The hotel is very handy from the railway station. The bar area was a delight to relax in, with the chap playing the baby grand.
The chairs are comfy but low for eating from (for me 5'4)
The restaurant is colourful and the breakfast was good.
I was in a room at the back of the hotel and the decor was simple, the room was fine though (i like the old furnitire) and warm enough for me (im a cold person) but maybe a little overpriced. The front rooms , with the views, may be more worth the money (but i was only for 1 night arriving late so no need for a view)
I would like to see refilled bottles for bathroom products rather than 'disposables'.
I liked the local art at affordable prices in the cabinets.
We stayed a few years ago and very much enjoyed the pool, hot tub, steam & sauna room. We didn’t realise that due to the fire in 2022 that the only thing remaining was the pool. The changing room was freezing and the pool freezing, someone mentioned they were painting in the day and had the doors open to dry the paint. Very disappointing. We would not come back again.
We stayed in the hotel, as we held our joint 50th party there.
We stayed in a standard double room and found it to be clean and comfortable, and perfect for our needs.
The breakfast was delicious, with a good amount of choice. All of the staff were professional and friendly.
I have stayed here last year and it has gone downhill the furniture in the bedroom was scratched and worn, the TV reception was terrible.
Biggest disappointment was the breakfast at time I stayed there was a choice of menu freshly cooked this time help yourself that was one of the main reasons for staying there.
