Preserved Boutique in Walkable San Francisco.

The King George Hotel is a nicely preserved hotel in the heart of San Francisco. It’s near walkable attractions like China Town, Fisherman’s Wharf and Lombard St, and near many good restaurants that don’t require you to drive. It is in the Tenderloin, so you will see many unhoused individuals nearby, especially if you go a block or so north. The rooms may also feel pretty small, so if planning to stay more than 2-days, utilize the storage spaces they offer so you can move around.

The rooms and property are great for the price! Only challenge is the single elevator which is very small and mostly used by the cleaning staff in the mornings which is also busy time for check out when guests need it too

I always stay at the King George when I visit San Francisco. They have never missed each time I've stayed with them. Staff is very friendly and helpful. I also love that they're super attentive. I was lone female traveler and I felt safe thanks to them. Very personable people. I believe the interior of the building has had some remodeling since I last stayed here (pre pandemic). The theme has always been English style lodging, meaning the rooms are on the smaller side; if you've traveled to the UK or anywhere in Europe before you know what I mean. However, the bathroom seemed much smaller than before this time. I'm pretty short myself and it was tricky to move around it without hitting something. It's like Alice grows super big inside the White Rabbit's house, that's how it feels to be in their bathrooms... and I get it, it's the English style but even when I visited London, I don't remember being THAT entrapped in the hotel bathroom. So if you're a claustrophobic person, I think you should stay somewhere else because the bathroom will freak you out. Other than that, it was a chill stay. Area around the hotel is relatively safe, so long as you don't make a wrong turn when you walk to the left side of the hotel (the wrong turn is the side NOT going towards Union Square). It's in a central location of the city so you're close to everything.

The folks at the front desk are so pleasant to talk to. It's very convenient to public transit. My room was quiet and clean. The lobby is comfortable. There was fresh fruit and donuts available in the morning. I found myself wishing there was slightly brighter lighting at the desk in my room, but that was certainly not a deal breaker. I hope to stay here again.

Hail King George!

We have stayed in this hotel several times and every time have been a very positive experience. Everyone was friendly and helpful, the room was good, the bed was great, the bathroom was good. We needed a small federator, and they got us one in no time. The location is great. It is an old building, but it is well maintained. We will stay there again.

I had an overall great experience staying at the King George Hotel. My friend and I booked a 7-night stay in mid-June for a leisure trip to San Francisco. We noticed that many guests appeared to be in town for business or conferences, and there were very few children around, which added to the calm and quiet atmosphere. For the price we paid, the hotel offered good value. The room was smaller than expected based on the photos we saw on Expedia, but it was clean and comfortable enough for resting at night. Our favorite part of the hotel was the location — absolutely ideal for travelers without a car. It’s within walking distance to the Powell BART station, which made getting to and from SFO airport a breeze, and it's close to major tourist attractions and transit options. There were a couple of areas that could use improvement. First, we were surprised by the additional $15/day mandatory facility fee, which wasn't clearly listed on Expedia. That said, the daily breakfast provided helped make up for it — simple, but appreciated. The main downside of our stay was the elevator. The hotel only has one, and it’s very small. Unfortunately, it broke down twice during our 7-night stay. On one of those occasions, we were trapped inside while it shook violently for about 15 seconds — a genuinely frightening experience. We were on the top floor, and since the stairs are a narrow spiral type, this made things especially difficult when carrying luggage.

The king room said sleeps 3, but barely had enough room to walk around king bed. Only 1 Elevator that ran slow. Older building charm but needed some updates

This hotel is a gem. It’s an older building with character, has the quirks of an older building (one elevator, small) a wicked spiral staircase, narrow hallways, etc. . But it is clean and super comfortable. The bed was very nice, the shower pressure was great and the tub was big. The only downside on the room was no mini fridge, but there are bodegas open late that had decent selections to satisfy my nightcap needs. The staff were very helpful, attentive and cheerful. The hotel is in a decent neighborhood not too far from a lot of cool attractions, we caught an impromptu Blues concert our first night at “Biscuits and Blues”, the show and venue was spectacular. Everything else was a short Waymo ride away. Overall great experience.

The hotel is nice and in a good area. Rooms are a little small but that’s to be expected in an historic hotel. Carpeting could use updating. Staff was fantastic!

We thought it was good value for this location (until a mysterious charge appeared on my credit card after we checked out). The staff members were friendly and helpful when we checked in. Free breakfast was simple but convenient. Our room was a bit small but reasonable for this location and price range.
