The location of this hotel is fantastic. Situated right in Union Square, it’s an easy walk from the BART station and perfectly positioned for the New Year’s Eve fireworks at the Ferry Building. While it’s a bit of a trek to the water, the walk saved us from paying the $900-a-night premiums charged by hotels closer to the pier. However, the room itself was disappointing. We were placed right next to the pool with a sliding door entrance, which meant constant foot traffic and noise outside our door day and night. The walls are incredibly thin, and the room showed significant wear and tear that didn't align with the $250+ nightly rate. On a positive note, the staff was very friendly and welcoming throughout our stay.

Everything was perfect from booking to check-in, from courteous staff to clean rooms. And its right in the middle of where-everything-happens-in-the-city. Everything was just a stones throw away...food, grocery, shopping. Price wise?...definitely, I was wise enough to book into Handlery Union.

Main service was prompt and attentive. Nice to have coffee/ decaf and tea in the room. Shower cap was nice touch. Location was excellent . Rooms were a little worn. I stayed with a king size bed and a room with two beds. The heat was an issue with the king size bed ; an extra heater and more blankets helped. We had no problems with the double room.
