Wedding Anniversary trip

The staff were wonderful, especially the two on reception. The hotel was very centrally located for our plans, and we had a great stay. We had a high room with lovely views over Harrogate, but the room had an adjoining door, which meant we could hear everything going on in the room next door, literally everything. Next time, we will specify a non-adjoining room.

We found the hotel a bit dowdy, grey and depressing to be honest, the netting up the windows although functional, make the room prison like and disappointingly spoil the view of the city. The breakfast was fantastic,plentiful and tasty let down marginally by the coffee machines which are hit and miss and either bitter or too weak, could do with lookong at. Our overall lasting impression was one of a somber and somewhat depressing accommodation...sorry.

4 day break

This is an exceĺlent hotel which is well located for the town centre. The entrance to the carpark can be difficult to find as it shares its entrance with the conference centre. Once in there are lots of carparking spaces. The staff were excellent throughout our stay. Our room was on the eighth floor room 815 and was very comfortable.The only slight annoyance was a mark/stain on the carpet at the foot of the bed, which looked like it had been there for some time. I would not expect this in this standard of hotel. Everything else was excellent including the breakfast which was served in a very nice dining room. Enjoyed our stay.

Within walking distance of town centre. Very clean. Staff pleasant and helpful. Breakfast buffet was varied and good standard. We didn’t try the hotel restaurant for dinner as the menu didn’t look very appetising but there was a good variety of restaurants nearby.

Cleanliness Issues

Overall, this a decent in hotel but the cleaning staff are clearly letting it down. When going for a shower on the day we arrived we tried to use the rolled up rubber bath mat only to find it had several smears of excrement on it. The very fact that a cleaner rolled it up and didn't address it is beyond belief. We complained and they immediately replaced it. After night 1, we went out and returned mid afternoon and noticed the cleaners had been in. Before we left in the morning we had left our towels on the floor expecting them to be changed. It was clear they had just hung them back up. Bed wasn't made and some rubbish next to the bin wasn't removed. Really not what we expect from a Crowne Plaza or any hotel for that matter. On a positive note everything else was really good but they have to get the cleaning standards improved.
