We selected a king room and our flight was delayed so we ended up with a room with 2 double beds. They offered for us to move 3 days later, but no one wants to do that. The second to last night of stay the AC went out. They didn't offer to put us in a different room, they brought us 2 fans, they didn't offer to refund us for those last 2 nights and when we asked for a late check out they gave us an hour later. The bartenders in the bar are understaffed for all the customers and it shows. The location is very nice, clean and beautiful.

Great lobby area, underwhelming room

The open-air lobby area of Ali’s Tower is really beautiful and relaxing, with gorgeous views of the ocean and a great restaurant. However, our room in the Bay Tower (which we were told was “upgraded” from a king size bed room to a room with two full beds, which is not what you want when traveling as a couple), was very underwhelming. It felt old and bare bones and had a strange smell coming from the vent sometimes. For what we paid and the photos of the rooms, I was expecting it to be a lot nicer.

Nice but not great

Stayed here a year ago but didn’t eat here because they didn’t have enough staff -cook or servers. This year we had to wait for a table because they didn’t have enough wait staff - plenty of empty tables. The rooms are simply with 2 double beds. It would be nice if there was a mirror besides the one in the bathroom.

I love the classic, historic nature. Bathtubs and large spacious room with refrigerator and coffee pot. So many of these new renovations do not include these important things.

Beautiful view

Great service from front desk staff. The view from the room was breathtaking and the room itself was clean and quite large. The Royal Kona Resort is conveniently located to Kailua-Kona. Recommend!

Not worth the money for what they offer

Worst service and rude staff, didn’t offer the room I booked saying they don’t have availability and the resort is overbooked. Very high price for what they offer. Only plus is the location but rest is worst.
