We had a room right on the rocks it was amazing! The only thing is that there were blood stains on the comforter and pillows. The tub needs cleaning it was old. The staff were great and very friendly. Food very good too! Views were amazing too!

Best spot in Kona proper

We always love our time at Royal Kona. The staff is awesome. Sonclose to everything in Downtown Kona. If you want to be able to walk to the tourist core of kona, this is it. Spring for Ocean view, it changes the experience dramatically. We live here and go for a staycation. We go from restaurant to restaurant and meet people and have drinks and apps after some adventure during the day. Then walk back to room. If you are after a higher end resort and want to stay on property then head out north to Kona coast and one of the fancier resorts.

Received a room at a discounted price due to the specific tower being under construction. Construction was supposed to only be 9am-4pm but was woken up initially at 4:30 from the beeping noise of a truck backing up, followed by loud crashing noises and then the sound of loud drilling. This went on until 6:30 am. Mirror in the bathroom had speckled black stuff all over it as well. Lastly, they let homeless people swim in the lagoon on property.

When we arrived it looked like a dump. When we left, it was PARADISE You make it work for you. Great daybeds (very reasonable), amazing location directly on the water, decent food and drink altho service was often slow and gift/sundry shop was limited (with items from costco for individual sale!) Service really seemed secondary. No one ever greeted us on arrival like other islands, desk was not always helpful. We made our vacation a 10, but overall this resort is a 7. Highly recommend the Lotus Spa. Tikis and themes are lovely.
