Little shop of terrors

Horrible trip from the moment I walked up to the new host to check me in. Rude and she put me I a room on the furthest away building that was old and bare minimum they call standard. I went back made a big fuss and wanted to just leave but they moved me and the room was better EXCEPT—- the water leaking from my ceiling bathroom! Went down for breakfast and sat at the bar ordered my breakfast and I was cold and didn’t taste good as the bartender couldn’t find the time to bring me butter or jelly. It just goes on and on.

I usually don’t review properties but I had such a nice experience here. As a kama’aina traveling from another island, it’s always nice when the hotel takes care of other kama’aina. Their staff is the best customer service experience I’ve had a hotel. I travelled during the renovation of the hotel so they were in the midst of fixing a lot of building repairs but the place was clean despite the construction. Rooms are a little dated but again something they were in the midst of renovating. Beds get an A for comfort and the pillows are plentiful and dream soft. The property pool is clean and right on the ocean and they also have a private ocean lagoon too. The seats by the pool were comfy and Danny the attendant is so sweet. Again, customer service is something this hotel takes super seriously. Great hotel, great people, great property, easy parking, comfy sleep.

I’m sorry, construction all day with jackhammering and then followed by a noisy Luau all night? Not a vacation. Could not nap, nor sleep at night. No joke, there was construction on a Sunday. Sunday! Jackhamming all day as I laid by their pool. I will not stay here again.

under remodel

I stayed for a night in the opposite tower. All of the floors were covered with plywood, i assume they were going to be remodeled. Room itself was pretty nice, but still a bit dated. Staff was friendly and easy to work with. I had a few drinks at the bar, very pleasant.

It's conveniently located to shopping, and the hotel has a beautiful restaurant located right on the ocean, where you can watch waves crash into the lava rocks. The front desk staff was very kind and courteous. The hotel is renovating, which means it's loud! Trying to lie by the pool while workers grind concrete is NOT what I paid for. Our tower has not been renovated, the room was spacious, but the bathroom was cramped with no fan. We got a room facing the parking lot, and it was incredibly loud. Especially when the local bar blared bad karaoke until 1:45 in the morning on a Monday night. The front desk did allow us a later check-out for our inconvenience, as they had no control over the bar.

The location was spectacular and convenient. Room and bathroom were in need of upgrading. Shower plumbing wasn't working correctly. Didn't like seeing the abandoned buildings on the north side of the hotel.

Time to Pivot

Our flight was canceled so we decided to stay the night in Kona. We didn't unpack our bags but had an opportunity to eat both dinner and breakfast on-site. The property is dated but you can't say anything about the awesome location and and chill vibe this hotel has. Loved it!

Badly in need of renovation. The rating is 3.5, it’s barely a 2, old the beds are not great the window does not shut the blinds barely move, the halls are dull, everything is old, a feeling of twenty years ago. Possibly the worst condition hotel I have been at in 29 years. However the staff were good.
