Staff was friendly. Great first floor bar. Trash can in the room was not emptied for five days. Same two glass were in the room all week with no new glasses supplied. All in all I liked the hotel. Nice location. The restaurant needs to stay open later than 9:00 during the week.

Our “corner” King room had fabulous view! Cooked to order breakfast, valet parking, and staff courtesy were excellent! A quiet area to stay, next to nice Gardens. But 4 items to improve: (1) reverse side of “Do not disturb” sign says “ALOHA.” When we wanted Housekeeping we flipped the sign to say “ALOHA” (welcome housekeeper?) but they didn’t enter, so even though we had requested housekeeping for that day at the front desk and confirmed it by text, we never got housekeeping; (2) the hotel sends too many texts, some from chatbots and others are ineffective, see above; (3) toilet trickled 24/7 and had World’s loudest and longest flush; and (4) I was shocked by the hair dryer provided that is not grounded.

I’m not sure if you could have a better pick at Hilo, but tbh I feel like this is overpriced. We chose Hilo because we would like to see the volcano and it was closer. The major complaint is that the rooms are small and outdated. Some rooms are more renovated but I was not sure how they are assigned and if they’re the same price. We moved to a renovated room for the last night because the bath tub faucet was rusty and broken so there was no water. (We did not have hot enough water at the beginning because of the defective faucet.) And in the new room the diverter valve was not working either… Also there are bugs, mosquitoes, and reptiles. This is probably not easy since Hilo is so warm and humid, but it can be a problem for a hotel room. Other than this the stay was OK. Beddings are decent and rooms are quiet.

Our stay was severely impacted by multiple safety issues, and the lack of meaningful follow-through afterward was deeply disappointing. Our room filled with electrical smoke from the air-conditioning unit. My wife and young daughter were present and became very distressed. I inhaled smoke while gathering our belongings, the smoke alarm did not activate, and our clothing and personal items were left smelling of smoke. The hotel, Expedia, and Hilton Corporate all acknowledged the incident in writing, but after documenting it, each ultimately deferred responsibility or went silent without resolution. Although we were moved to another room, the stress and fear from the incident made it impossible to feel safe or enjoy the remainder of the stay. We were ultimately offered cookies as a gesture, which felt wildly inadequate given the seriousness of the situation. Adding to the concern, the following morning I witnessed an electrical fire start in the blower of a children’s bouncy castle on the hotel grounds. I alerted staff so it could be extinguished. Fortunately, no children were inside at the time. Staff were polite in the moment, but the overall experience, including the safety failures and lack of accountability afterward, fell far short of what we expected from a Hilton-branded property.

Needs a lot of repairs all around the property. I had cockroaches in room. I called and they sprayed right away. Much better. Blankets and pillows old. Pool towels old and cheap. Not a Hilton Iml’m use to. Everyone friendly. Loved the location. A log of noise from bulldozer next to property.
