The wifi only works in certain rooms. I work from home so this is not ideal. I had to move rooms. I have no idea why they placed me in a room right at the end of the corridor when there were empty rooms closer.
The shower was terrible - the softest pressure I’ve ever experienced in my life. Showering was pointless.
No toothbrushes/toothpaste in the room.
The key card broke.
The iron was so old.
All in all, extremely disappointing for a 4 star hotel.
Saving grace was the staff were friendly. I will not stay in this place again though.
Be careful which room you choose. I paid for a Deluxe Double. Wasn't anything like on their website. I thought they have probably put me in the standard double size, because we arrived 2 houra early for check in. Very disappointed in the room size for £205 per night if im honest.

Unfortunately I can only give this hotel a 3 star. The room was sooo hot it was pretty unbearable. I had to resort to soaking towels in water and using those to cool me down so I could sleep. There is no air con and the fans provided just seemed to help turn the room into a fan assisted oven more than anything. To add insult to injury there was also no fridge and no bottled water provided.
The noise from the bar downstairs is quite loud too but only up until about 12. We were on the 1st floor so it might not be as disruptive further up the building.
It’s a shame because the rest of the hotel was actually quite good. The breakfast options were good and the staff providing breakfast were attentive, professional and polite.
Maybe if you are thinking of staying at the hotel, just plan your trip for when the weather is cold.
Really looking forward to trip ti celebrate anniversary. Room was on first floor etched windows room116 awful, didnt feel safe having windowsopen might as well been in a dark basement ,did not feel part of the hotel , awful
Had a lovely stay absolutely amazing meal in the Pickled Sprout. Fantastic service friendly staff all round. Only issue was the room was way too hot (not much the hotel could do about that short of installing air conditioning) we had 3 fans in the room which made it bearable. Next time we will defo ask for a room with a window.
Yes we will be back .
I have stayed at the hotel three times and find the place to be excellent but on this occasion I booked late and was given Room 117 at the back of hotel. The view was a rear alley but with window frosted out with film there was no view at all. Additionally the room was extremely hot. The hotel must be aware of this a fan each side of the bed. It is strange they never informed me of the issue when I checked in. The fans were of little use for one of the warmest summer nights. The towel heater in the bathroom could not be switched off, adding a further issue to the overheating. Yorkshire is a good hotel but my nights sleep was dreadful.
I informed reception on leaving, to which the reply was, Oh yes that room does get very hot. Shame on you Yorkshire for letting it with knowledge of the issue.
Friendly reception staff gave us a free upgrade. Lovely clean room with good facilities. Really comfy bed. All in all another enjoyable stay. Will be back soon 👍👍

Liked: Cleanliness, amenities
There was nothing that I particularly liked about this hotel.
The main problem was that the room was excrutiatingly hot. I was told that there was no alternative. I insisted and was offered a choice between 3 extremely hot rooms. The staff seemed to think that extremely hot rooms were normal. Access to the room was via a labyrinth of stairs up and down.
Stayed at The Yorkshire Hotel in Harrogate and let me tell you — it’s the kind of place where you half expect the receptionist to offer you a cuppa and ask if your whippet needs owt.
From the outside, it looks like it’s been standing proudly since before gravy was invented (a grim time we try not to talk about). Inside? Fancy. Proper fancy. Like someone gave Betty’s Tea Room a promotion and a scented candle.
The rooms were lush — comfy beds, posh bathrooms, and views over Harrogate that’ll make you question why you ever went abroad. I asked for a wake-up call and they nearly shouted “Eeeeh up! Time’s gettin’ on!” down the phone. Glorious.
Only complaint? No actual whippets in the lounge. Not one. I asked the barman and he said, “Health and safety, love.” Shame. Would’ve given it six stars if they’d had a communal dog.
Gravy rating: 10/10. Hospitality: warmer than a pie fresh out the oven. Will return with a flat cap and unrealistic property aspirations.
Great central location. Shops, restaurants & bars all within walking distance.

Check in was good, room clean, breakfast good. Only negative was room was directly above the bar and it was a bit of a disco until midnight. Would definitely stay again, however in a different room.
