A Yorkshire treat.

Room very clean / bed comfortable / Food excellent though the breakfast menu was a little reduced from what I had read online e.g. lack of fish items (smoked haddock,etc.). The staff were very friendly and helpful. A most enjoyable stay.

Great stay

The hotel is in a great central location for walking. I woman at the front desk was just absolutely amazing. Friendly and helpful and a great sense of humor. Her name was Bee for short. The room was nice. The interesting part was the hotel is older and is not equipped with AC. They put portable AC units in the room and vent them thru the window. They also put an oscillating fan in the room as well. I was curious as to how this was going to play out. It went great. The room stayed cold. I mean cold not cool. We stayed in the summer months. The room was spacious, and bed was comfortable. So even with the window open slightly to allow venting from the AC we didn't get any street sounds up into the room. The area is quiet at night. No issues at all and they had black out curtains as well. Side note. The elevator is super small. 1 person and maybe 2 pieces of small luggage can fit in it. I had no issue with it buy my wife didn't care for it so used the stairs. No big deal it all. I personally thought it was somewhat interesting on a good note.

The location can't be beat--right by the cathedral but not unduly noisy--and our room was on the street side. The staff was pleasant but a bit inattentive, which perhaps cost them a few drinks we didn't order. The food was mediocre. I like older hotels, so it doesn't bother me when the upgrades are a bit wonky. Our room had a slightly odd air-conditioning solution with a tube through the open window leaving a bit of a gap , but it worked just fine with no bugs coming in. Unfortunately it was right about the place where the staff would go to smoke, so several times a day we'd have 10 minutes of nicotine smell. I'd previously stayed at Grays Court around the corner which is luxurious in service and fabulously quirky in rooms. Deans Court is not in their league, but it's a good lower cost alternative if location and some charm matter to you.

Staff are magic and valet parking is very very good. Whole place, barring the showers, needs refurbishing. The carpets definitely need a serious clean or replacement. A better area for use as a lounge by guests would be good. Outside is Noisy late at night, and early morning

The fire alarm went off twice in the middle of the night while we were trying to sleep. There was no fire. I had to get dressed and go to the main desk to find out we didn’t need to evacuate. There is no A/C or climate control and the room was very hot. Location and staff were very good. The included breakfast was excellent.

Fantastic location right next to York Minster. Room was very spacious and comfortable. The weather was warm/hot - the hotel provided not one, but two tower fans for comfort. Only had breakfast which was very good. Staff were very professional and friendly. Highly recommended.

Staff were wonderful, location can’t be beat. An easy walk from the train station. My only objection is that they had a portable air conditioner in the room which must have needed cleaning. I’ve been traveling for three weeks now and stayed in several different hotels in different parts of Europe. My allergies are not typically bad but the two nights in this hotel were so unpleasant. I barely slept because of congestion and sneezing. I suggest that the staff do a thorough clean of the air con filters/lines as I suspect there was mold.
