This is a grand hotel, very convenient for the beach but the overall feel was ruined by the food served in the dining room which was rank. I can think of no other way to describe it. I mentioned it to the dining staff who apologised but said nothing they could do.

Don’t bother

Had to move rooms three times. First room has a tiny window that opened onto a boxed terrace area, this was filled with bird poo & dead birds, it was very smelly and dirty. Second room had broken glass all over the floor, as well as used cups under the table & tv unit. When we spoke with reception they just kept sending us to different rooms, we must have lapped the hotel 3 times (and it’s not small). The room we ended up in wasn’t ideal but the best of the 3. Not worth what we paid at all.

Outdated hotel, no air con makes the room like a hot box. You have to have the windows open but that opens up the sound of pouring water from what seems like a broken pipe. The breakfast was abysmal. The juice was watered down and the one coffee machine broken and not proving anything but black coffees with cheap beans. You also have to pay to use the swimming facilities and everything else is an add on to the room price. Really disappointed and quite frankly surprised this is still classed as 4 star.

A wonderful location. Can hear the sea from a Seaview room. Staff are overworked but really helpful and pleasant. A wonderfully grand hotel from the olden days managing the 21st century.

My wife and I stayed there for 3 nights last week. We were looked after extremely well from the moment we booked in until we left. We were fortunate to have a room that had a door out to the gardens and that was close to the bar and restaurant areas. It made a change to stay in an old hotel that had loads of charachter instead of the more modern style hotels. All staff were attentive, polite and welcoming. We will certainly stay there again.

Average, needs modernisation

The room was average, too expensive for what it had to offer, bed was uncomfortable, mattress needed replacing, it was very basic, needs refurbishment & also was too hot, no air conditioning thou I selected that when looking for our stay at Hotels.com, there was one dirty fan in the cupboard with cobwebs & dust on it, windows did not open or were difficult to open for any ventilation. Had to pay to use the spa, there was drama there caused by some unpaid walkin's from the street, but this was handled well by staff! They really need to shut the side entrance, it should be closed to avoid people gatecrashing! We heard a large group of travelers gatecrashed the pool last week! However, the Hotel does offer lovely gardens & comfortable lounge to relax in, thou they offer small selection cocktails, they don't have simple ingredients like cucumber or mint, this was the same when we stayed here last year, sadly we will not be returning here

Room smelt bad and had a loud room extractor fan noise running the hole time. Poor signage to find the room as well as other guests struggling to find their rooms too. Unexpected extra charge for using the leisure facilities that weren’t made clear when booking.
