I very much enjoyed my stay at the james bay inn staff was friendly courteous and very personable. Location was excellent with museum, harbour, beacon hill park all within walking distance. The food here was good as well and a very cozy little pub. I would stay here again
I had an excellent stay at James Bay Inn - the room was clean, the bed was comfy, and the floor was quiet. Beautiful architecture and interior in every floor full of Emily Carr's paintings on the walls. It was also convenient to have the pub and restaurant there as well as the 7 minute walk downtown and just a few minutes walk to Beacon Hill Park. However, what stood out the most was how great the manager, Hedy, and Roy at the front desk were. They were so accommodating when I had an issue checking in, and they helped me out greatly. Looking forward to staying here again in the near future!
The staff was friendly, kind and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. The lobby was charming.

Liked: Staff & service
The room was spotless, I appreciated the comfortable chairs in the room for reading and the areas outside the room for reading. I liked having windows at night that opened. I loved the decor, I felt like I was at home. The room was very cozy. The staff was friendly and very helpful. I ejoyed the sitting area downstairs, we had some lovely conversations with other guests. It was silent at night and the location is superb

Friendly staff, hotel full of character even the floors are slightly sloped in rooms! All
Part of the adventure. Clean comfortable rooms.
Restaurant and pub simply good with lots of character also, good food and drinks and great staff. The place is full of regulars, they keep coming back. I booked a third party booking although I did try to book through the hotel. Price was much higher. The manager said to ask for him next time. I will return.
Hotel staff are great, Helpful and professional. The location is terrific. Close to downtown but in a very quiet neighbourhood. There is a restaurant and pub onsite but there is minimal noise from either. The hotel and rooms are not new. This is a quaint hotel with some quirky features. However, dollar for value, it is a five out of five. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are very clean and quiet. We plan to stay here again!
The hotel was so great. Old world feel, charming furnishings, photos of Victoria’s history, hidden balconies and quiet corners, friendly, welcoming staff, clean rooms all in beautiful, historic James Bay. What more could you want?
One of my fave places to stay in Victoria. Great customer service, reasonable rates, walkable to the downtown harbor and great restaurant on site. Have stayed here 5+ times in the last few years.
very, very clean rooms. staff were so helpful, food at the pub was amazing and good prices.
Looking forward to going back in the spring.

Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
JBI is old and lacking the niceties of a building built in this century but it was clean and secure and a short walk from the harbor and Beacon Hill park.
The bathroom is SMALL. The towels are so very threadbare and thin. Can’t control the heat in the room yourself…wished I could.
The music from the pub quit at 10:00 pm tho’.
Ate a lovely breakfast at the restaurant downstairs.
The housecleaning staff were wonderful and the front desk Manager was pleasant and chatty. He brightened my day!
The James Bay Inn is an eclectic, wonderful hotel. The staff is exceptional, and the hotel is ideally situated with easy access to downtown Victoria as well as Beacon Hill Park. Daily housekeeping, which is a luxury these days, was greatly appreciated. I recommend this hotel most highly.
