You get what you pay for. It was a very basic room with a bit of a stale odour. A spray bottle of febreeze was required to try and get rid of the smell. Bedding linens were poor as were the bedspread, blanket and bed pillows which were mismatched and also stale.

The pool was closed for unfortunate maintenance. The cleaners were super kind, but the main desk ladies were ok. It was clean and true to the description.

When checking in, I got excellent, friendly service, pointers on the map about things I might need (ie grocery stores) and she ensured that I would not have to change rooms after I had made two separate bookings. The room was very clean with good amenities in the bathroom as well as a coffee maker and fridge. When I had an issue with my television, they sent up a maintenance person within about 10 minutes. The restaurant within the hotel is fabulous with very friendly staff and excellent food. The hotel is very well situated just two blocks from the inner harbour. I certainly recommend the Royal Scot hotel.
