Great choice

I extended my stay at J Resort in Reno. It was Hot August Nights Car show so lots of activity and lots of beautifully restored cars to see and appreciate. As always, the hotel is fantastic; clean, friendly staff and great amenities throughout. The hotel was full, but everything kept in immaculate shape (with exception of 'weed' odor in the elevators) The location is great for walking, and I felt totally safe.

This appears to have been recently renovated. Far better than the place that had been there. Parts are currently under construction. On our last night there was a large rain storm that flooded the streets around the hotel. Water was coming through the roof into the casino and other parts had water from the rain. They worked fast to take care of this and clean up. Repairs were under way before we left. Great response by staff to an extremely rare occurrence.

I booked this trip using Expedia and paid for it expecting everything to be handled in that one charge to my surprise. I had another charge that had to be paid when I got to the hotel for both rooms very unhappy with that process I use Expedia and pay for it upfront to expect to have everything done in that one stop And shop. At that point I had to pay it since I was there and far from home.

The hotel is very nice (I think just a few years old for this renovation). We only stayed one quick night passing through Reno, so we didn't get a chance to use any of the amenities, but the room and hotel in general was great. We first got into a room that looked directly down on a major construction project just getting started (they are expanding their pool area). We went immediately back to the front desk, and she was very helpful and upgraded us to a small suite with a kitchenette. Things were very quiet in that room - no construction work wakeups the next morning.
