This hostel is great for its proximity to downtown. Everyone there (staff and other guests) were really friendly. The room and private bathroom were fairly clean, but there was some dust build-up in the corners, a little bit of grime, etc. If you are used to backpacking, budget international travel, etc. you'll feel right at home.
One of the bedside lamps in my room didn't work, but there was a second lamp and the overhead light, so it wasn't a big deal.
The blackout curtains are a nice touch, and the quiet hours are strictly followed.
One issue I had was with the front door code. It changes each night, and is communicated through signs inside the building. When I left at 8AM some mornings it had not been updated yet. At the desk I was told the code would stay the same as the previous night, but when I came back at night, I found the code I had didn't work, and had in fact been changed. Thankfully, another guest opened the door for me, so I could avoid the charge for ringing the doorbell.
