Take a break by the Parramatta River, within easy reach of the Sydney CBD and right near Sydney Olympic Park, when you stay in one of our excellent Homebush Bay hotels.
Things to Do
When most people think of Homebush Bay, they often think of the Sydney Olympic Park. However, in 2009, they became separate suburbs in and of themselves. Don't worry, though; it's still super simple to get to the Olympic Park and check out the hallowed grounds that hosted the 2000 Olympic Games. You might even be lucky enough to catch a football game at the ANZ Stadium or, if you're here in January, head to the Big Day Out music festival. Make sure you book your event tickets in advance, though because these events are super popular. No matter what time of year you're here, Olympic Park is a great place to spend an evening, with its hip restaurants and trendy cocktail bars.
At sunset, make your way to the bay and check out the unusual Heritage Listed shipwreck yard and snap a few photos of the SS Ayrfield, which served during World War II and glows a deep red colour as the sun sets on its mangrove-laden deck.
Another must-visit in Homebush Bay is Bicentennial Park, where you can visit the mangrove wetlands and wander around the lakes. There are picnic and barbeque facilities too, so make sure you pack a picnic lunch.
Homebush Bay is only about 16km from the Sydney CBD
and about 20km from the airport. You'll easily get around the bay by bus and you can travel to and from the other Sydney suburbs by train or bus if you're not keen on paying expensive taxi fares.
So book your Homebush Bay accommodation with us now and get ready to experience this great part of Sydney.
