I normally enjoy my stays at the Holiday Inn Express but this stay in Sydney Mascot room 624 turned out to be awful.
After a long day, we arrived at the hotel on Jan 2, 2026 ready to rest and when the bed linens were pulled back, there were awful stains on them. We called down to the front desk/landry area and the young attendant was pleasant and came to change the linens. When he pulled the bad linens off, the mattress cover had stains on it also! That sight had us very disturbed. After he tried to fix the situation, we just said we will put the new linens on the bed, thank you very much. What we had to do was add towels to the bed so our body would not touch the mattress cover nor the linens. The mental anguish that happened was very stressful.
However, the next day we did express our difficult situation to Christian, front desk clerk. He was kind, and respectful to us. He allowed us to have complimentary shuttles tickets and later he emailed with 25% off of that one-night stay. Mind you I appreciate the gesture, however, 25% off of only one night is, well I would like to understand the small amount since the charge for my 3 night stay was $893 USD! Right at a $1000 USD! Paying that much, I feel I should not have had to endure filthy linens and the disgust of seeing layers of stains.
