Friendly staff and a cozy environment. The valet service and their manager were helpful. This hotel is close to UC Berkeley within driving and walking distance.

Get rid of the damn barn doors!

First of all our rooms were not ready even though we had a 4 PM check out time. We were told they probably wouldn't be ready for another hour. The hotel did give us breakfast vouchers for the hassle so that's something. The walls are pretty damn thin, I could hear the TV room in the room next to me very easily. The biggest complaint of me and my colleagues is the barn doors on the bathrooms. Is there anybody on earth who likes barn doors? Especially ones with translucent glass? It gives no privacy.

We often stay at the Shattuck Plaza and we like the architecture and history. The room was very hot this time due to the weather outside and the air conditioning units in both sections of the suite did not work. The maintenance crew decided the units were dead. Our options were to move into a smaller room and stick it out with fans, but we ended up with an uncomfortable stay.

Cool older hotel Shattuck Plaza

A funky hotel with lovely touches from when it was first built. Often the showers are fine, but this time the bathtub was very narrow and there wasn't much pressure. I did love the view from the higher floor thought, so worth the trade off.

Pretty, safe, and comfortable

This was an incredible stay for me, my husband, and our dog. The hotel is so pretty and charming! It's in the middle of the downtown buzz, and yet it feels safe. I also didn't feel like the noise was too bad, and we slept ok. I LOVED that each floor had a water machine, that's something every hotel should have, as it makes life so much easier. It's always nice to find a cool hotel where we can bring our doggo. We weren't there long, but will definitely be back.

Beautiful quaint hotel, close to Cal, easy parking on Shattuck. Danny and Terrence at check in were LOVELY and KIND and started off our trip in such a great way with a nice gift. Highly recommend.

Terrible neighborhood, room was above ventilation, noisy, terrible smell in the elevator (they use some strange chemicals with strong scent). Breakfast ala cart, so everyone has to wait quite long for a simple eggs. We were mixed group and we had the same reservations, only male were offered breakfast vouchers!
