We stayed at The Dana at Mission Bay and had an overall good experience. Check-in was very easy. They required a credit card and authorized $50 per day, and the $20 per day resort fee was deducted at checkout, which was helpful to know.
Our room was clean and spacious, though I didn’t realize beforehand that all rooms have exterior, motel-style access. Because of that setup, I did find a few ants in the room, and the walls were thinner than expected. That said, the staff was consistently polite and accommodating.
The on-site restaurant had good food, but the menu and hours were limited. The beach wasn’t immediately walkable, so we ended up needing an Uber. The property in general isn’t close to other businesses, so having a car is ideal. Parking is $35 per night, but honestly worth it compared to multiple rideshares each day.
The pool was a highlight. My daughter loved the heated pool and the poolside movie at night, which was such a fun perk and kept her happy for hours.
Overall, it was a solid stay and a good fit for families. As long as you’re aware of the exterior-entry rooms and plan on having a car, I’d recommend it — and we would return!
