Occidental trip

Front desk clerk was wonderful, he was friendly and helpful. He recommended places to eat. Keep in mind most are closed during the week. We got coffee and breakfast at Bohemian Market, had lunch at Howard Station Cafe. We had a pizza and salad at Union Hotel. We wanted to try Negris and Hazel but both were too busy on a Sunday. Beds were soft and comfortable. The pool was too cold to use but it was a nice place to sit. If you’re adventurous I’d recommend the zipline course two miles away.

I couldn’t stop thinking I was being discriminated at the time of check in. I had already asked for an early check in, the man asked me to come back later since the room was being cleaned. Got back and two other couples walked in at the same time, the man said “2 rooms available” and gave it to them when I had been there before they did. He had the audacity to tell me “checking time is at 3 pm and smile at the other guest”. This was plain wrong. I don’t what to mention the race of the other guest, but I’m sure you’d have a pretty good idea .

Older place, but clean. The town had few options when it came to food, clerk said most places are closed on Monday and Tuesday. Slept good, bed was comfortable.

Pleasant check in First room was pretty cramped. Small tv in adjacent nook. Could not watch tv from bed. Asked for a different room and was graciously reassigned to a different room Good value for the price. Enjoyed Thursday Night market across the way.

The staff was very friendly and upgraded us to one of the newly refinished rooms. We have stayed here multiple times and always enjoyed it. Clean, quiet, and beds were comfortable.

The Lodge itself was very nice, clean, comfortable and centrally located in town. My wife and i stayed from Sunday for 4 nights on our first night all restaurants and the only bar in town were open and that was the last time we could use the bar as it was closed until Friday. The towns restaurants weren't much better with only one open each evening with none open on Tuesday evening. I would recommend you look at the town web site for days and times eateries are open. Occedental-ca.org to help fine places to eat.

The hotel was very clean and the staff were very kind to us. They made some suggestions about dinning places and they were perfect. We really enjoyed the 3 days we stayed there.

Room was nice and clean. Beautiful area. Conveniently located walking distance from restaurants, shops, etc. Only issue we had was very noisy neighbors with kids screaming and door slamming in the morning, starting at 6:30 am!

pro : Location is excellent that right in downtown that walk to everything, staff are friendly, room is clean , bed is comfortable. Con : wood structure building so you can easily hear neighbors are walking or talking. It’s good stay and all guests are well behaved so you don’t hear noise after 10 pm
