The hotel itself has a unique character , because it is a historic building. The lobby coffee shop its a cozy place to spend time and overall this is a place that I go back and price is good for what you get.
Freehand LA charges guests a resort fee for use of the pool...but doesn't allow guests to access the pool area. Had an uncomfortable stay. Hostel rooms too small, bed uncomfortable, no place to hang clothing/towels in the too small room bathrooms, tiny shelf in shower stall, sinks not in the bathroom, small "lounge" in the basement was cold & had minimal seating. The only positives were the location & beautiful/comfy lobby (hard to find an empty seat though). I would not recommend this hotel.
I really wanted to like this hotel. The rooftop and coffee bar were great, but both of these things are completely separate from the hotel itself. The bed was so uncomfortable. The lights in the bedroom are motion-censored and very sensitive. Anytime you turn over at night, every single light in the room would turn on. The front desk was very little to no help. Unfortunately, I will not be staying here again.
I side the facility was very nice and clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. The bed was clean and comfortable. The bathrooms and showers were clean and well kept.
If your a wheelchair user, please make sure to request an ADA room and make your gender preferences clear from the start. I found the lobby and cafe nice, but the lighting is very dim and dark in comparison to the photos. Overall, the stay was good, but the elevators were pre-historic looking and were very hard to get in and out of.
