Unfortunately, The Northern Queen has fallen into disrepair. I stayed in a chalet and it was nasty—there were gross stains on the couch, the carpet felt so dirty I didn’t even want to go barefoot, the whole place smelled of old cigarettes, the walls were dirty, the upstairs bathroom door barely closed, the deck was falling apart. The staff were apologetic and sweet, but the place was awful.

It was quiet around which was nice! Had a nice balcony with a good view! Wish there was a store on site, but it was ok it was nice to go out and see the area. Ended up at the Nevada City Farmers Market! Room was a little musty but once we open the doors and windows we got some nice fresh air in! I’d definitely stay again!!

Got there 20 min early. Made us sit in front of them at the desk for 20 min because if they checked us in "they'd have to charge extra". Ok. Maybe it's a computer thing. Room was gross. Stains of who knows what everywhere. Couch, chairs, carpet, walls. I don't even want to know what it was. Molding hanging off counters. Sliding glass door off rails. Smelled like cat piss and cleaner. So I guess someone tried at some point. Patches holes in walls with random paint colors over them. Like I don't even know what they're doing with this place. Not a single thing about it was acceptable except the staff were pleasant. Oh also the garbage truck bouncing the dumpsters around the parking lot at 7am was a nice touch.

Buildings are aging and in need of refresh but they were clean and the staff very friendly. Nice trail to walk on. Pool was out of commission as was restaurant. Close to town.

Nice bed

The bed was comfortable. I have a lot of back pain so that’s always a bonus for me. The only problem was the bathroom window didn’t lock. The area felt safe but still it made me uncomfortable to leave my stuff the room. Besides that everything was clean. and I would definitely stay there again.

we were very satisfied with our stay. the room was newly refurbished, with contemporary furniture and design. very roomy, with many fine touches. the shower was wonderful with a room for two:) while our room was close to the road the room was quiet. it's a 10!

I would not recommend this place. The pictures fooled me. The room was dirty, and I'm almost questioning whether it was cleaned. Bring your pillows. I didn't notice the mold at night, but I saw it in the morning. I let the front staff know about the mold. The staff was friendly and respectful.

Overall it was perfect for what we needed. The kitchenette was perfect for making breakfast in the morning and for late night snacking. Cons: Aside from the strange musty smell when you first walk in. The smell goes away after you open the door for a while. The other reason was the kitchen sink faucet. The propery is nice but it needs a makeover. The room we stayed in had frayed carpet, busted blinds, paint spills in the corners. The property itself is beautiful and very relaxing. Our room also needed a more through cleaning. There was dust throughout the room. The edges of the baseboards had build up on them.
