First time in Banff

We are seniors and this was our first visit to Banff. We found the Canalta Lodge to be a pleasant, clean and spacious place to stay, but with one of our group recovering from a leg injury, it was a little too far from the main downtown area. Good restaurants nearby, but it was a hike to get to some of the interesting places in the city center. Enjoyed the outdoor space, with hot tubs available! I was surprised when I requested to purchase water bottles for a morning excursion and were told they were out. Lots of other products, snacks etc. but apparently there was an "unexpected" run on water bottles and there were no more in the building? (I noticed they had restocked by the next day.) No biggie, just surprising.

Property location was safe and walkable to dining options. Staff were friendly and service was good. Breakfast was good. However, our ground floor room location was facing another condo and our window couldn’t be open and light was limited. Room lighting needs to be better. Pantry complimentary items (coffee, milk, etc.) wasn’t filled. As such, it was over priced.

Amazing amenities and extremely professional and smily staff. Everyone is always willing to answer your question or assist you with something. The hotel is very clean and is very well located. You are about a 15 minute walk to downtown core of Banff. I highly recommend this hotel and will definitely go back next time I'm in Banff.

Good location. A little walk from shopping, but we don’t mind. Used parking on the street and back entrance. Room was ok size. Breakfast was easily enjoyed. Several people were there each morning at varying times. Husband enjoyed a couple beers each evening without having to go out to a bar in the rain.

We spent 2 nights at the Lodge. The front desk was very friendly and pleasant and the location is pretty convenient (walking distance from downtown). The rest of it was very so so, especially for the price. The room was not very clean and leaves that were on the carpet when we arrived stayed there through our entire stay. They made our bed by strightning the cover without fixing the sheets or putting the pillows in place (never happened to me in a hotel). The breakfast is very basic. All in all, average at best, and especially at their price.

I’ve just returned from a fantastic extended weekend in Banff and staying at Canalta Lodge was the perfect choice! The staff were amazing … in particular, Mannon, who gave us great restaurant recommendations and patiently answered all of our questions. We loved the free s’mores happy hour and the included breakfast each morning. Other perks that made our stay just right were the hot tubs and cold plunge pool, the underground parking and easy walking distance to the main core of Banff. I would definitely stay here again!

Free breakfast was simple and limited - but it was free! You can park for free at the street behind hotel. Sauna and 1 hot tub was out of service while we were there. Room had no view (unless view of a parking garage is what you want) but staff was helpful and had no issues during our stay. Pretty much at the end of the “hotel strip” but only took 20 minutes to walk to the main Banff downtown area :)
