We arrived early and the gentleman on reception advised we could check in early and was very helpful with lots of info regarding the area and getting around. We dropped our bags in the room (and although a little small seemed clean and tidy) and went straight out for a day & evening of sightseeing. On getting back to the room at approx 2330 it was extremely cold, I tried turning the heating up but it was just blowing out cold air and we then realised that the window was open and we were unable to close it. As I was already in my pj’s I tried calling down to reception but it just kept ringing out so my husband for dressed and went down to reception. The man on reception was not very helpful and did not really seem very bothered but advised that he should come back down to reception once we had packed our things and he would get us another room. He did not offer any assistance with our bags or for anyone to fix either the window or heating. At almost midnight I then had to get dressed, pack and go down to reception. We were given another room which was lovely and warm but there was a loud humming noise that seemed to be either a boiler or possibly the main air-con unit. Breakfast was adequate with a good selection of cereals, pastries, cold meats and the traditional English breakfast items. There was a leak from the ceiling in the restaurant on the first morning which had not been fixed and seemed to have got worse on the second morning.

The room wasn't the best as there wasn't a door to separate the rooms. For a room for four people there were only three towels and three cups, even though we asked for another it didn't arrive. The bedding was covered in makeup and when we asked for it to be changed this wasn't completed either. Housekeeping was rude on the morning of checkout even though we still had an hour before needing to leave. The prices in the bar were high considering the area wasn't exactly spectacular.

I received an outstanding welcome from the two receptionists on duty when I arrived at the Hotel on Sunday, 1st February. The presentation and cleanliness of the room, initially allocated to me, was dire! The decor was tired: the walls were grubby and the carpet very badly stained. The surfaces throughout my room were dusty in the extreme. There is a cupboard in the room containing an ironing board with an iron resting on a shelf. The shelf was covered in dust thick enough for me to be able to write my name in it. Even the door hinges of this cupboard were caked in dust. However, I was most surprised by the filthy condition of the metallic architrave to the shower unit in the bathroom. An accumulation of dust had become engrained as a result of dust and moisture coagulating in the stainless steel frame to the door. There was a very poor, albeit unsuccessful attempt, to rake out the thick grimy deposit on the evening of my first night's stay. I am pleased to say that on the day after my arrival I was transferred to a much better room with acceptable standards of presentation. It is manifestly plain that the cleaning staff are not being properly motivated, supervised, managed and monitored in order to achieve a consistent benchmark standard of cleanliness throughout all of the rooms in the hotel. It might be time for some of them to consider their positions!

Great location on the central line which was so convenient. Staff were very friendly and helpful and we had a really good stay. Room was a good size and clean and great to have a little Waitrose downstairs for supplies

Is the second time someeneters the room at 8am when we are sleeping, this time after someone entered the room, woke us up and then leave, a lady called on the phone just to ask my last name, waking us up again. This is unacceptable. Their excuse is that the system is not working properly. But thats not enough, if the hotel is worried about who’s staying in their rooms, than I’ not only worried to get woken up at 8am in mu holidays, but I’m also worried that thay don’t know who’s going around the hotel. We had a great experience with the staff at Thistle, check in was easy and they stored our luggage until check in so we were able to go out and enjoy our day without worrying about our luggage. We had a twin room on the fifth floor with a view of Hyde Park. The room was tidy and clean and the view was good with the large window. The downsides that we experienced were that one of our twin beds was squeaky so that made it difficult to sleep. Also, we could hear a lot of the other guests, especially the closing of doors which was quite loud. This may not be ideal for anyone who's a light sleeper or people with babies or young children who are easily woken. Aside from those issues, the hotel is great. The location was idea with walking access to the Queensway and Bayswater Underground station. There is a lot of restaurants close by, including the Shell station below the hotel which has snacks and drinks. I would definitely consider staying here again.

The property failed to disclose that major maintenance works were taking place, yet charged me the full amount for accommodation that was noisy, disruptive, and completely unfit for habitation. I would like to make it explicitly clear that I have a medical condition that requires complete rest and uninterrupted, comfortable sleep. In addition, I am an athlete, and sufficient quality sleep is essential for my full recovery and for me to perform my physical activities properly. I informed the property of both my medical condition and athletic requirements at the time of check-in. Despite this, from the very first day I was continuously disturbed for four consecutive days. I was unable to rest at all during my stay. The environment made it impossible for me to sleep, recover, or function normally. No meaningful solution, refund, or compensation was offered. When we escalated the matter to the manager, her behaviour was extremely unprofessional and unacceptable — she shouted at me. I have video evidence that clearly documents this incident. The offer of a 30% refund, which I have not even received to date, is entirely inadequate and unacceptable given the circumstances. I paid in full for a service I did not benefit from in any way. I am therefore formally demanding a 100% refund. Should this matter not be resolved immediately, I will proceed to report this case to my insurance provider and my bank as a case of misrepresentation and potential fraud.
