It is conveniently located near the tube and walking distance to SoHo and Regent st. The British museum is right behind it.
The staff was very attentive and the room was comfortable
Hotel was very convenient for public transport and for the theatre district of London.
Only minor criticisms. The tap on the bathroom sink was loose and the whole bedroom floor had a rather annoying creak.
That said, the room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. A very enjoyable stay.
I stayed at the hotel for one night as I was visiting the British Museum. The hotel was perfect for my needs - and around 5 minutes walk to the Museum.
We didnt get to stay at the hotel because our flight was cancelled but we could not reach anyone at the hotel to let them know. The number rang for a while and then put me through to a mailbox that was full. Amateurish.

There was no hot water for majority of the duration of my stay
Excellent hotel - first time we stayed here. Interior of hotel is lovely, bedrooms are extremely comfortable, well equipped and beds provide excellent night’s sleep. Staff very helpful. We would highly recommend the Thistle Hotel in Holborn.
I stayed at Thistle Holborn in January 2025 for a long work trip of three weeks. This hotel is ideal for those who would like a walkable experience of London--it is in the very center of the city (Holborn/Bloomsbury) and a five-minute walk to two major tube stops. The hotel is clean and well-run, and the staff is immensely helpful. The breakfast buffet in the hotel is very good. Overall, this is a fantastic, central location for any first time visitor of London.
Even if this property is not a 5*, it is a very good 4* for the following reasons: clean, small rooms but has everything you need including a good hair dryer. 2 minutes walk from the British Museum, literally!! Restaurants all around or less than 7 min walk. Bus stop right in front of the hotel! Great service, they do everything they can to accommodate their clients. Good English vibe. My only concern: carpet in the room (I personally don't like it) but it was clean so no complaint. Restaurant a little pricy but no need to book breakfast there, go the the Drury or Breakfast club near by. Overall very good for the price, you wont regret.
The hotel was very nice, we stayed in the suite for a family which was spacious and the beds were comfortable. The bathroom needed some updating and the room got quite cold in the middle of the night. Other than that we had a very comfortable stay. The food was tasty with a good range of options and staff were very friendly and helpful. The location close to the British Museum and central to most things was good but we did find there weren’t that many restaurants nearby that we would have liked. Be aware the nearest station (Holborn) does not have disabled access and if you are bringing anything larger than a small case it’s advised to use Covent Garden as the escalator into Holborn is incredibly steep - staff advised us we shouldn’t use it with a large case.
Everything about our stay was great, however we had one big issue - lack of hot water. We stayed for 2 nights and there was no hot water on both mornings. It came on after about 30mins on one day, but didn't at all on the next. As this was our check out day, we had to ask for an alternative room just to have showers.
Staff were very friendly and location was great, but the hot water issues took away from our experience.
The receptionist Yin was very friendly and professional. She greated us with a smile and answered any questions we had. Yin also allowed us to check in early so we could dump our bags which was very helpful.
