Best small hotel in London

This is the best little hotel in London. If you’re looking for clean, quiet, friendly staff, great neighborhood, great restaurants, and close to public transportation, this is the place. It’s very reasonably priced and easy to find. It’s a 5 minute walk from Paddington Station which is serviced by the Heathrow Express making it super easy and fast to get to town. I have stayed here twice and it’s the only place I’ll stay in London.

The staff was fun and friendly. So close to Hyde park. Walkable distance to Paddington station. The hotel itself is old, but clean and worth it for the price. We would stay here again!

Great reception staff!! Rooms have no air circulation so you have to open the windows and then hear the traffic. Free breakfast is free for a reason. Hotel is close to subway, scooters, ebikes… excellent for getting around! Safe area and walking distance to restaurants and pubs.

Great location. Very nice area to stay while you’re in London. Staff is super friendly and very professional. Rooms are comfortable. Great breakfast. Well worth the price, especially in London. A very short and beautiful walk away from Paddington Station. Great cafes and restaurants everywhere.

We stayed at Mitre House Hotel on the evening of the 5th of May, 2025. It was chill in London with a steady breeze, and occasional rain. We had two rooms on the 4th floor. Mitre House Hotel is an old hotel and the rooms are small, very small by some standards. It’s quite worn. But it’s a superb value for the price, and the rooms are quite clean, in our limited experience. It is also very centrally located, a block from Paddington Station, and once at Paddington Station you can go anywhere in Great Britain. Mitre House Hotel is within walking distance of many great London venues such as Kensington Gardens and Harrods and more. We found that we walked six miles in one day because we went from one site to the next. Also there are a variety of restaurants with qualities ranging from poor to superb within walking distance. The staff was cheerful and effective, and the breakfast on the morning of May 6th just before our flights was classic English and well-prepared. All in all, we hope to come back to Mitre House Hotel as soon as possible.

Kate and all other staff members went above and beyond to help us and make sure our stay was pleasant after a previous hotel reservation with another hotel did not work. Everyone aided us with any needs we had, making phone calls for reservations , giving us recommendations and directions and just being friendly. The breakfast was good and the wait staff pleasant consistently. Highly recommend.

Miter house hotel

Very convenient location to tune , hop on hop off. Staff was very helpful with directions, restaurant recommendations. Breakfast was included food was fair. Rooms are small but adequate. Beds are comfortable. Hotel does have a lift. Hotel was quiet and has a park right next door. Would recommend.

We were very disappointed that our room appeared very different from the one on Expedia. It was extremely small and the bathroom was far too small for my husband to feel comfortable in. Staff were nice and breakfast was good. Very convenient to Paddington Station.

The staff at Mitre House Hotel are very friendly and welcoming. The cleaning crew did a great job. The hotel hasn't had an upgrade in a while and relies on actual keys for entry to rooms, and the key must be turned in as one leaves the hotel. Our room did not have a fridge or a safe. The breakfast is plated, and sadly mediocre, but again the staff is very friendly and efficient.

I particularly liked the friendliness of the staff in answering questions about the area which was new to me. The hotel was excellent and, for London, reasonably priced and a delicious, substantial breakfast in addition. I would recommend staying there to anyone seeking a quiet hotel in an area with its own beauty ( try Little Venice within strolling distance) and good transport links to the West End and further afield. A real find!
