Great location, great people

Yes, the room was small and the bathroom tiny. But they seemed to be newly redone, and extremely clean. (No A-C, but the open window worked fine because it was not too hot.) The people could not have been friendlier or more helpful. Finally, for those who believe in location, location, location, The George is in a great spot, close to transportation and major sites like the British Museum, with a bunch of good nearby restaurants and bars, and with the pleasant little park/garden across the street.

This was our first time in London, so I can’t compare it to other hotels. However, it’s not your typical hotel room experience. It feels more like an apartment building, so keep that in mind when booking. I did feel that it was overpriced, but hey, that’s London—everything is overpriced there. The room lacked air conditioning, which was a downside, especially during the extremely hot couple of days we stayed. We had sticky, sweaty nights, but I’ve learned my lesson: if traveling on hot summer nights, look for hotels with air conditioning. On the bright side, the location was great. There were plenty of pubs, restaurants, and shops within walking distance of Kings Cross.

Amazing breakfast! And the staff was so friendly, kind, and very welcoming. The bathroom lacks some of the toiletries we were expecting—they only provided body wash in the shower and a tiny soap on the sink top. However, the amazing English breakfast more than made up for the lack of amenities. The location could not be beat as well, with lots of dining options and proximity to St. Pancras station. Highly recommend!

I picked the hotel based on location and its charm. If you are sick of staying at the chain hotels in a tall building, this offers something different. The location was convenient to transport hubs and the street is quieter than nearby streets. Be warned: there is no elevator and no air conditioning. Rooms are small but not too bad for London. It’s an older hotel, but it’s got the basics. Cute little pubs and restaurants right around the corner. Overall the descriptions on the website was accurate and we enjoyed our 4 nights there.

The room felt as small as a coffin, and the sink was barely the size of a lunchbox — but I could live with that. The receptionist was quite unfriendly, but I let that go too. What really disgusted me was discovering a clump of hair inside the towel I had been using for several days. I took a photo as evidence, along with some other disturbing shots. Honestly, it was revolting. I rarely write reviews, but this experience really crossed the line. I won’t attach the photo here — I don’t want to make anyone vomit.

Convenient location , staff very friendly and helpful. It was very hot weather during our stay and no air conditioning make it very hot and uncomfortable during the night. Would fed consider staying here again but not in summer with warm weather.

My first room at the hotel was a great single room. Completely functional and worth the stay. My second single room was so tiny that I could barely maneuver around my suitcase and the shower was so tiny that it was difficult to use at all. Over a great little hotel near St Pancras and Kings Cross, but a little unpredictable what you are getting.

Great hotel great location.

Easily the best budget hotel I've stayed in in London. Good room with space nicely decorated. Towels changed daily. Right next to Marchmont Street with great restaurants cafes and pubs. Would recommend.

Booked through Hotels.com so hotel took the view any problems had to be dealt with by Hotels.com and not by them. Shame as otherwise a basic but an OK hotel. Charged for things I did not have and they said they could not refund me but everything had to go through Hotels.com and to claim via them. Hotel clearly not happy I used third party booking so used this as an excuse not to do anything for me, clearly not interested in being helpful at all. I was not happy they had taken my money that was not due to them. Disappointing attitude to clients and I would not stay again.

Great location. Simple rooms with coffee and tea in suite. Clean loos. Rented two triple rooms (two double beds) which were fine for sleeping for my daughter and my sister but my husband and two sons found it a bit tight. no complaints though.. meant we didn’t need to rent a third room.

I normally stay at chain hotels in London but decided to try something new. I’m pleased I did; this is a nice and clean, no frills hotel in a lovely area of London with great restaurants nearby. The room was clean and very spacious. Oxford Street is about a 25 minute walk. The hotel receptionist was a great guy who made me feel very welcome. I’d definitely recommend for a short stay in London.
