Wonderful and surprising Mohawk Valley treat!

Our stay was incredible…from the friendliness of the staff to the size of the room to the comfort of the beds to the coffee available to proximity to great food to the pool…just an wonderful stay that even my ever-complaining teen boys were impressed with!

Clean room. Friendly staff. But a train runs by days & nights making it noisy. Also the bed made a noise every time I got up. Like a spring was broken. The towels are very worn they need to be replaced. But the place is centrally located.

Good place to stay

I've stayed at this hotel many times over the years (starting back in the 1990s), including before it became a Red Roof Inn (it used to be a "mom and pop" called the Herkimer Motel). It has always been well maintained, and its an affordable place to stay in the area, I use it as a jumping off point to go to Glimmerglass Opera and Cooperstown. The hotel was built in at least two, and probably three phases over the years. I was in the oldest part this time (which I've been in before). The rooms are on the small side, typically one bed, but they are the quietest. (The hotel is between a highway and an active railroad track). Be that as it may, it was very clean and comfortable. The rooms in the newer sections are considerably larger if that meets your needs, but they are somewhat noisier as well. I've used those two when traveling with others. The front desk staff was very helpful, only little item this time was that the ice machine was out, but they had a note on the machine that service had been called and they provided ice at the front desk. It basically kind of shares a parking lot with a Denny's, so there is a place for late night dining or if you want to eat there. The hotel does provide a breakfast which I didn't try (I typically don't eat hotel breakfasts anywhere) Again, I've stayed here many times and would not hesitate to do so again.

Don't judge by the surroundings!

The general area is a dump, which sadly makes someone think that this Red Roof must also be a dump...but it's not. I stayed in the back building and the room was spotless, had a nice kitchenette that had a sink, fridge and microwave, which is more than I typically get in a room. Bed was comfortable. I didn't get to use the pool but it looked clean and well-maintained. Exterior needs some work to make it look as nice on the outside as on the inside. I'd stay here again without batting an eye!

Excelente lugar para lo que queriamos, dormir una noche mientras continuabamos nuestro road trip. Un lugar seguro, limpio, servicio 24 horas en la recepcion, muy buen desayuno. Lo unico es que habiamos visto que habia un Dennys en el mismo estacionamiento pero al llegar (alrededor de las 10pm ya estaba cerrado) No hay nada cerca para comer. Diamond in the rough

A true diamond in the rough, the exterior of the hotel is hiding a beautiful, immaculate, carefully decorated room. Amenities were clean and well maintained with clean surfaces throughout.

Sweet spot

This little place is nestled right next to the highway, but the room is well insulated against noise. It is noisy by the pool, but it is a lovely, good sized hotel pool which we all enjoyed. We brought blow ups for it. The owners definitely take pride in how they run the Hotel. Right next door is the Erie Canal Cruise place (loved that) and it's close to Cooperstown and Howe Caverns and other regional sites. Picnic tables, Continental breakfast, vending machines. Its a great value.
