if you are going to talk the talk...you better walk the walk...broken elevator we were taken to our room by the kitchen elevator. Room view of a roof bad enough...but construction debris couldnt be swept up? Rotted window sills....bathroom tiles white wash painted. Not what you would expect from a high dollar high end hotel

Our room was not ready at check in time. check in was 4:00 our room was ready @ 4:30 We had plans for friends to pick us up at 5:00 so we were rushed to take showers and get dressed. Other than that everything was good.

No shower curtain, ants in bathroom but this year service was great in bar- had to use stairs as elevator was being repaired - use of freight elevator required but needed staff to operate ? Staff was not there first couple of times to operate it. Love the hotel needs more attentive staff to reflect graceful environment

The staff at the front desk are very nice and helpful enough, and that's where my positive review ends. From a previous stay, I remember the rooms were older, but I had read on the hotel website and elsewhere that they did a renovation-- not sure where, however, as our room was horrible. the smallest room, with a dormer to give it more "airiness". It was very hot while we were there this weekend so the A/C needed to be on but truly it made the room worse. The humidity in the room was unbearable and the musty, wet smell from the older unit was disgusting. The carpet in the room was frayed and coming up between the bedroom area and bathroom. Oh, and the bathroom-- smaller than a water closet but includes the shower, toilet, sink and a radiator. There is a sign saying that the bathroom is the "original styling," which could be charming but in this case it's just old, run down, and DIRTY. Only cleaned where you can easily see, not anywhere else - see photos. They had clearly reglazed the tile, but failed to do so behind the toilet and in other places it was chipping off. I didn't even want to put my feet down on the floor. The hotel's check in check out policy is also crazy. Check-in at 4, check out at 11, which means not even getting 24 hours in the room. We asked for early check in, which we needed as we were going to an event, which the hotel granted at a cost of $60, which also seems absurd plus they charged $100 resort fee-- what resort? We Got Nothing for that fee.

The Gideon Putnam exceeded our expectations. The property is absolutely beautiful. It is surrounded by acres of trails, baths, and golf courses. The pool is a must see. We will definitely be back.

Beautiful hotel in the state park. Great choice if you love history. Restaurant had a good buffet breakfast. Dinner menu was limited and marginal, although it was convenient.

Lots of bugs in the system

Nice hotel that we’ve been to several times We had to wait until after 5PM to access our room but when we asked for a 15 minute check out extension, we were told no. We had dinner one night at the hotel and waited an hour after our order was placed. Gideon Putnam charges. $30/day amenities fee for the pool and the shuttle. We used neither but still required paying. The elevator was out of order except for a few hours of our stay. We were on the upper floor and had to wait for a staff member to bring us up and down in the service elevator.

We have stayed here multiple times and this visit was a little disappointing. When we had maid service, they left wet towels on the bed and bathroom floor. Otherwise, the visit was nice!

Elevator out of service. Tub didn’t drain. Safe didn’t work. Worn property. Time to invest some money into the property. $400 per night. Total ripoff. Most staff were indifferent. Only positive is the location. Could be a great property if taken care.

Old hotel. Very nice though. Hotel was costly for a weekend but was comparable with other hotels in that area for the same weekend. Traveling to Saratoga Springs during horse race season is pricey. Best perk for this hotel is that if you are seeing a show at SPAC, you can tailgate on the grounds and walk a few hundred feet to show. Its location is what gives it value.
