The window in the front did not lock. The window in the bathroom did not lock and there was no screen. The outside furniture was in really bad shape. The beds were clean and nice.
If by “charm” you mean “deferred maintenance” Elkhorn has it in spades. A bathroom door that was falling off its hinges and wouldn’t close. A board on the porch loose enough to cause you to stumble. A lightbulb in the bathroom that kept flickering out. Missing or broken window coverings. The list goes on. And it was pretty dang expensive on top of all of it.
We have stayed here for years and loved it but this stay was so disappointing
I called ahead regarding our cabin and assured we could stay there, nope was put in cabin next to housekeeping and laundry room. I had paid for the full day in advanced I was told that other cabin was available. During our 4 day stay we dealt with dryer exhaust, housekeeping bringing there dogs to work with them . The dogs roamed freely and one came on to our porch and lifted its leg on all the porch beams and our truck tires. Front desk young woman acted like it was my problem when I went to talk to her.
My understanding is they have new owners and all I can say is they really need to get a handle on that property or they’re going to lose all of their regular clients
The beautiful scenery is so relaxing. You can see wildlife( mainly deer) from the porch chairs.
Bery wuiet and tranquil atmosphere.

Only enough water for one hot shower. Had to wait hours for the second person to have enough hot water for their shower.
The bed had a hump in the middle of it.

Disliked: Amenities
no rooms cleaned unless over 5 day .toilet problem.bathtub
problem.couldnt shower on night 2.water ran full on in bathtub all night.no one answers at night.had to plunge toilet myselfleft a day early and the water was still going and no one showed to fix
The management team doesn’t ever answer the phone. I was bitten by one of the house keepers dogs and my so called “Honeymoon Suite” was right next to this monstrosity. I kept my cool and my complaint was answered with the State Police knocking at my door stating that the manager wanted me to leave the property. It was a nightmare of an experience to say the least.
Rooms 21 & 22 had bed bugs. See attached photo-unable to attach... It was Memorial day weekend, so no rooms available and offered the second room -21 which was infested too. Only offered refund. We had to drive home which is 3+ hours away. We cannot believe the lack of concern for our granddaughter's bites. We've NEVER experienced this in our lives.
When I first entered my room I was hit by a wave of heat. I opened all the windows in an attempt to cool the room down. About that time I noticed that the thermostat was turned all the way up. Why? Who knows? The shower drips continuously and there is a rivulet of water that runs across the floor in the bathroom. I needed ice for my cooler but there was no functioning ice machine. This may have been a nice place at one time but it has been quite a while since then.
