Beautiful externally and a real landmark convient place to stay. Although we were given an upgrade and the room was huge with great views, the room itself was dated and tired. Mould in pictures in room and running along corridor. I know as Singapore is a humid place this can be an unavoidable but consideration for some dehumidifier in corridors that can’t be ventilated may be an idea especially for people with asthma. Paint peeling in some areas and bubbling and room fittings not updated in many years as they even had a labelled DVD drawer. I know they are slowly updating rooms but if so maybe don’t charge as much for these older tired rooms. The areas around the pool also need attention. Broken tiles and stained outside cushions. Staff overall very friendly and good until the last day when the door man was slamming our luggage in taxi so hard and aggressively to make it fit which was unbelievable. I was amazed nothing broke. The only reason I didn't say anything at the time was as I was worried the taxi driver was going to complain. Overall a pleasant 2 day stay in an old world landmark hotel but until guaranteed an upgraded room I wouldn’t be keen to stay there again.
