From an experience traveler: I will not recommend this all inclusive, it is not worth what you pay. First, building is not in good shape, elevators dont work! Everyday we had to take the stairs, imagine if you have a stroller or someone handicapped. Room in general is OK, as family of 5 we chose this because the bed layout. But dont expect high quality bathroom. This hotel apparently runs in 1 shift, very limited staff everywhere!! - Towel booth: Nobody is there to service, very annoying to find staff. Operate only from 8 a m to 6pm so even at 5:45 staff disappeared and you carry your towels rest of day - Restaurant: Very slow to service you, from the time to be seated to get food in themed restaurant - No bell boy to help you with your luggage at check out (see elevators dont work) - Internal shuttle: Only one vehicle runs, very long to wait and limited capacity. RESTAURANTS: Not all restaurants for dinners are open everyday ( it seems no staff to operate all). Now the Steak House is a joke!, meat is super basic and staff super rude (they told us, you better eat all) Brazilian restaurant was much better, but atmosphere is horrible, dark, warm, no music. French Restaurant: It is newer, in better shape but lots of empty tables (again, lack of staff) Italian restaurant: Average, not great, not bad. What is terrible is they put music from a cell phone in a mini portable speaker, cmon! Swimming Pools: For the size of this hotel, the offering is very bad. Night shows: very good

We had an amazing time at Sandos Playacar. Despite the amount of sargassum that time, we still managed to have a great time. The food is one of the best, the grounds are beautiful, the beach - one of a kind. We definitely would come back again.

I was disappointed with some of the staff, the night shift that watches people on the beach tookour sandles then acted like they didnt understand us. We spoke with the service center snd they didnt have time to go look at lost snd found then told us they didnt have them.. it was about 80. Worth of shoes..

Do not stay here! Terrible service

Service: with a few exceptions at Guest Services (young man and older woman) it was routinely awful. Check in was painfully slow as they still do much of it by paper and stapler lol. They didn’t explain anything didn’t give you any info or help. Without a doubt the low point of the trip was the check out. JOSUE is the main reason I’m writing this review. I lost a towel card the first hour I was there, guest services said no problem they would replace it. I never followed up (my fault). At check out even though the sign says $450 mxn for lost towel card (approx $23 USD) he wanted to charge me $50USD. He said the $450 mxn is only pesos. That the credit card machine only charges USD, which is a lie because I paid the eco resort fee in pesos on my card at check in. When I refused to pay he called security and said we couldn’t leave. He was threatening to hold me hostage. I asked to speak to manager and after ten minutes of Jesus the security guy eyeing me up at one point trying to stop me from going to car, the manager removed the charge. Do yourself a favor, there are nicer resorts, better organized, better or equal food, with much better customer service. Spend your money somewhere you will be appreciated.

Very nice budget friendly place. I really liked the pools. There was a few good things in the buffet. The beds were hard. And the showers didn't work that well. Also the AC could be colder. I could see my kids having a good time but it was a couples weekend. The staff was super friendly. Overall it was a good weekend and reasonable.

Property was larger than I've stayed at before. Compared to some of the smaller resorts I've stayed at they didn't have near the coordination of activities to participate in. No list of anything was given at checkin. Somehow your just supposed to know what they offer and when. Didn't find out till our last 2 days of some of the options and even then no hours of operation are available. We really enjoy volleyball and that was almost non-existent. I think they can do a better job with activity coordiantion and making people aware of what is available and what hours of operation are. Also pools are not cleaned very well.

We recently stayed at this resort with a group of 11 people, and unfortunately, our experience was far from what we expected. From the moment we arrived, the staff was not friendly or helpful. We were repeatedly told that many of the issues we encountered were due to it being the resort’s “low season” a poor excuse when guests are still paying full price to enjoy amenities now, not in the future. Many of the resort’s amenities were closed or unavailable, which was incredibly frustrating. The pool bar and in the kids’ pool was shut down, forcing us to leave the area and wait in long lines elsewhere just to get a drink… a major inconvenience when you’re trying to relax with children. Room service was disappointing, with the food being barely edible, and our room ran out of water multiple times. On top of that, most bartenders and waitstaff had poor attitudes and were not welcoming at all. The one bright spot during our stay was the housekeeping staff the ladies who cleaned the rooms were efficient and kept everything spotless. Also, the entertainment team by the pool deserves a big shoutout. Allan, Julie, and a young lady from Veracruz went above and beyond to make activities fun and engaging. They were the only reason we were able to enjoy any part of our time there. Sadly, this resort completely missed the mark for us. With the lack of service, attitude from staff, and limited amenities, we would not recommend it to others, and we certainly won’t be returning.

I'm not one to post reviews but want people to be aware of the decline of this resort. We stayed at this property in 2010 and loved it. That's why we took our group of 11 back for our son's graduation trip. The resort was nothing like it was back then. The "family" section, which is 17 and under, is at the very front of the resort. In order to get to the beach, main pools, buffet, 3 other restaurants, and the nightly entertainment, you had to take a trolley. The trolley wait times were a joke! One day, we waited over 30 minutes for one. Our stay was Tuesday - Tuesday. Wednesday - Monday we woke with either no hot water or no cold water every single day! We complained to which we were told they were aware of the problem and was working on it. No offer to move rooms, nothing. We found the customer service, and quality of food extremely lacking. On Monday of our stay, the pool by the "family" section was filthy. It had all kinds of debris, including band-aids floating in it. I said something to the swim-up bartenders, to which they said they would call someone. We sat around the pool for 2 hours after that, and no one ever came. If you decide to stay here, I hope you have a better experience than what we did.

After booking I emailed guest service for the room to be decorated for a birthday and that wasnt done. The first room was horrible smelled like paint or glue fumes so bad. They had to move us to a new room around 10pm cause i was unable to breathe. The restaurants are difficult to get into you need to book like 2 days in advance! I only got into 1 restaurant during my 8 day stay and they took over an hour to bring me my main course. The managers around the resort seemed grumpy but the regular staff was all friendly. Shuttle wait time was long for my kiddos we had to put alot of steps in to navigate from the family side to the buffet and beach. The property was overall maintained pools and landscaping.
