Forgetting what your last sickie excuse was is a pretty clear sign that you need to get outta town for a bit. So why not step off the beaten track to Max and soak up the splendid forests of Minnesota? (The only thing you'll need to remember is how to chillax!)

It's located 1,700 kilometres to the northwest of the country's capital, Washington.

You won't need to be stuck inside a car all day to witness a bit of nature. Just 30 kilometres out of Max, Chippewa National Forest is a terrific place to get a breath of fresh air. More scenic surrounds are waiting for you at Pine Tree State Park, 40 kilometres away.

There's nothing better than a day spent carving up the slopes at Buena Vista Ski Area. Collect a trail map when you arrive and see how much of the resort you can check off!

Like the sound of Edge of the Wilderness Discovery Center and Bills Lake? These great sights aren't far from the centre of Talmoon, 20 kilometres to the east. Base yourself here for a while and start exploring!
