"Right on the waterfront!"
We stayed at the Grand Chancellor for 4 nights and everything about the Hotel from the service to the facilities were awesome. From the minute we arrived we were treated with respect and dignity and offered information and facilities above and beyond most other Hotels we've stayed at. On arrival we were chatting about what we could do and where we could go and the bellboy made the effort and found some brochures for us that helped us decide both of those things.. we were most impressed and very grateful for his assistance. I also had some difficulty accessing the internet and when I called the number provided and the assistant couldn't help me he sent someone up to the room immediately to assist... very impressive...

"Charming old world hotel"
A very nice hotel borne from a very impressive residence. The new extension was well appointed and taseful. Our Harbourview room was spacious and the staff were very responsive to anything we asked - towels, ice etc. Parking our car so close to the city was a huge plus. I was surprised about the layout of the bathroom in the room. The toilet was pushed up against the shower screen and the vanity was an awkward shape. Our only disappointment was in the breakfast that we experienced on morning one. We were the only guests in the dining room and ordered two hot breakfasts. These took 25 minutes to bring out - having been told that the chef was busy making sandwiches for a luncheon event later in the day? I was also charged for ala carte AND buffet because I had taken a coffee from the sideboard -the most expensive coffee I have ever had! The hot breakfasts were completely tasteless, which surprsied us as our trip to Tasmania was overwhelmed by beautiful local produce and pride in the catering.

    Hotels In Hobart

If you haven’t been there already, get packing and head to Hobart, the capital of Tasmania. Positioned in a scenic harbour, the city features unique landscapes, fresh gourmet produce, award-winning wineries, and a thriving art scene. Hobart also has a rich and interesting history being one of the oldest cities in Australia, so enjoy it with a stay in one of our Hobart hotels.

    Things to do

Summer is a great time to visit Hobart, as it’s when the city hosts some of the country’s top events like the week-long Taste of Tasmania festival, which celebrates local food, wine and beer. The annual Sydney to Hobart yacht race and the Hobart Summer Festival kick off in late December. There are also plenty of other great events held throughout the year.

Hobart is home to one of the most talked-about galleries in the world: MONA (the Museum of Old and New Art), which has an eclectic collection of weird and wonderful art. If a couple of hours of exploring the gallery has left you thirsty, you’re in luck, as one of Tassie’s most coveted vineyards, Morilla Estate, is next door. Settle into the wine bar, order some gourmet food and sample some vino.

If you’re still after some more of that great Aussie wine, there are several award-winning wineries nearby, such as Frogmore Creek and Puddleduck vineyards, so explore them both on a wine tour. Australia’s oldest brewery, Cascade is also worth booking a tour with if you enjoy a good brew. You’ll have some new found appreciation for how it is made. Combine this with gourmet produce, fresh seafood and delicious cheeses and you’ve got happy foodies with lots of fine dining options to choose from.

Put the famous Salamanca Markets on your must-do list. Held every Saturday, the markets are vibrant and feature a variety of arts and crafts, music, fresh produce and plenty to feast on for breakfast. If you enjoy boating, spend the rest of the day sailing some of Australia’s most beautiful coastlines and rivers.

No trip to Hobart is complete without enjoying the great outdoors, so pack a picnic and make tracks to Mount Wellington, which towers over the city providing an amazing view at the top. Or enjoy an adrenalin pumping mountain bike ride if that’s more your style.

Hobart is within easy reach of some of the best attractions Tasmania has to offer. If you’ve got time, pay a visit to Port Arthur for a dramatic piece of Australian history and cruise over to Bruny Island for your chance to spot penguins, seals, dolphins and whales.
