Old Woolstore Apartment Hotel

"Great accomodation"
Everything was good except for the reception staff. On arrival the girl came across as unfriendly, and not welcoming at all. The restaurant staff by comparison were very friendly and competent. Rooms were wonderfully big and comfortable for the family. the hotel's position to the wharf area is perfect.

"Nice and new but get your fire alarm problem fixed"
overall nice and new and central. But cant forget being woken at 1 am by announcement over the PA that we needed to evacuate the building, on speaking to other guests the same thing happened a few nights earlier. Must be a gremlin in the emergency system so hopefully ironed out soon

Hotel Grand Chancellor Hobart - Hobart Hotels

Hotel Grand Chancellor Hobart

1 Davey St, Hobart - Map
"Good hotel in great location"
We attended a training conference at the Grand Chancellor and opted to stay at same hotel even though it was a bit pricey especially weekend rate. Lobby area is modern and a great space. We didn't eat in the restaurant but had room service the night we arrived - very yummy sandwiches. The room we were in was optimistically called 'mountain view', should perhaps be renamed 'city view' but we didn't mind as we weren't there to stay in a hotel room. Staff all very friendly and helpful. Very comfortable bed with good pillows. Bedside tables a bit clunky. Need more/better lighting in the room. Bathroom good, in-tub shower was fine but a minor irritation was the water didn't drain out fast enough -- someone came to fix this but problem persisted. Used the gym which was clean and quite OK. Indoor pool was being enjoyed by families with young children. Good wifi. TV selection very average.

    Hotels In Hobart

If you haven’t been there already, get packing and head to Hobart, the capital of Tasmania. Positioned in a scenic harbour, the city features unique landscapes, fresh gourmet produce, award-winning wineries, and a thriving art scene. Hobart also has a rich and interesting history being one of the oldest cities in Australia, so enjoy it with a stay in one of our Hobart hotels.

    Things to do

Summer is a great time to visit Hobart, as it’s when the city hosts some of the country’s top events like the week-long Taste of Tasmania festival, which celebrates local food, wine and beer. The annual Sydney to Hobart yacht race and the Hobart Summer Festival kick off in late December. There are also plenty of other great events held throughout the year.

Hobart is home to one of the most talked-about galleries in the world: MONA (the Museum of Old and New Art), which has an eclectic collection of weird and wonderful art. If a couple of hours of exploring the gallery has left you thirsty, you’re in luck, as one of Tassie’s most coveted vineyards, Morilla Estate, is next door. Settle into the wine bar, order some gourmet food and sample some vino.

If you’re still after some more of that great Aussie wine, there are several award-winning wineries nearby, such as Frogmore Creek and Puddleduck vineyards, so explore them both on a wine tour. Australia’s oldest brewery, Cascade is also worth booking a tour with if you enjoy a good brew. You’ll have some new found appreciation for how it is made. Combine this with gourmet produce, fresh seafood and delicious cheeses and you’ve got happy foodies with lots of fine dining options to choose from.

Put the famous Salamanca Markets on your must-do list. Held every Saturday, the markets are vibrant and feature a variety of arts and crafts, music, fresh produce and plenty to feast on for breakfast. If you enjoy boating, spend the rest of the day sailing some of Australia’s most beautiful coastlines and rivers.

No trip to Hobart is complete without enjoying the great outdoors, so pack a picnic and make tracks to Mount Wellington, which towers over the city providing an amazing view at the top. Or enjoy an adrenalin pumping mountain bike ride if that’s more your style.

Hobart is within easy reach of some of the best attractions Tasmania has to offer. If you’ve got time, pay a visit to Port Arthur for a dramatic piece of Australian history and cruise over to Bruny Island for your chance to spot penguins, seals, dolphins and whales.
