This was my second time staying at the location since I traveled through two years ago staying for a couple nights. It’s a bare bones experience but provided a safe place to sleep for two nights and was decently clean. I was a little disturbed by how soggy the carpet felt but it was the middle of summer so humidity was high too. I think the AC unit struggled to keep up. The walls weren’t the most insulated but it was families with kids on both sides of my room. It wasn’t enough to keep me awake but noticeable they were occupied. I am sure mildew is a problem in most older hotels and it was present in the bathroom but probably as much due to age and staining. The management did seem to be updating or repairing the room since I noticed a couple new items in the room including a new bathroom towel rack that had just been install as indicated by the drywall dust accumulated underneath (probably a male that never even noticed that he was not leaving the room particularly clean but at least it was new dust). Detailed cleaning was not their specialty but the room was tolerable. I do have to say I appreciated hot showers.
The check in process was a little awkward. The hotel lobby is closed from 5pm until something like 8am in the morning so I am not sure what good it is… it looked decent through the door. We had to stand in a small entryway and communicate through a small plexiglass window. Once all the paperwork was done the staff was helpful and went out of her way to help us.
