"Top notch hotel with amazing pool, great for kids!"
My children and I took a weekend away and were looking for fun, comfort, relaxation and a pool. The Crowne in Newcastle was EXCELLENT! The rooms was a 1 bedroom, with a sleeper couch in the living area, which gave me some space at night and the kids a sense of home. Whatever we needed the concierge sought to supply and delivered. The pool was incredible, as was the poolside restaurant service and the kids playroom (along with WII play unit). Although I found the staff to get a bit stressed under any pressure (restaurant and front desk alike) that could be forgiven by so many other amazing experiences. My daughter has asked me if we can go once a month to this hotel - need I say more?

Crown on Darby

For two elderly ladies with luggage the sight of 2 flights of stairs to get from the door to the lounge room was almost too much. Luckily the receptionist was quick to assist. The steps to get into the bath (spa) were also beyond us. A warning would have been appreciated.

"Good location. "
Stayed in a 2 bed apartment. Had all the facilities we required. Had to call through for simple hinge like extra face washers when we arrived. They'd allocated one for four people sharing two bathrooms. Only complaint is they charge $25 per night for onsite parking. Not so bad for one night stay but adds up quickly if you stay longer and can put this place outside of budget just by parking. Not sure what costs $25 per night to provide...

Confusing that the building is called Chiffley but other than the difficulty finding it I can not fault anything. Staff were accommodating and friendly, room was comfortable and it is in an amazing position.

Super keen surfers will totally love Merewether Beach, one of Australia’s National Surfing Reserves. Everyone else should check out the popular Nobby’s Beach, which is patrolled by lifeguards. It’s beautiful too! Don’t miss the gorgeous lighthouse, which has fab views overlooking the city and the sea. But for a real treat, tackle Bather’s Way, a walk that winds past a historic fort, the breakwall, informative signs, parks, many beaches and beachside BBQs. Prefer to swim somewhere different to the beach? Take a historic dip in the Bogey Hole, cut into the ocean rocks by convict labour in 1819, or at the Newcastle Ocean Baths, with its brilliant Art Deco pavilion.

    Cultural delights

This is no cultural backwater! You’ll love the galleries and boutiques in Darby Street, Newcastle East and Cooks Hill. The Newcastle Museum is free and provides fascinating insight into Australia’s second oldest city. The Christ Church Cathedral, at over 190 years old, is also totally gorgeous in its spot overlooking the city!
