Lovely hotel, circular in shape, very complimentary how the architects have been able to configure the guest rooms to fit. The rooms are not oversized but very clean and comfortable. The beds are comfortable, pillows nice to sleep on, room amenities good, linen and towels clean and fresh, lifts fast and spacious, staff are friendly and willing to chat and provide local advice. The restaurant on the 9th fkoor provides great views of Newcastle CBD and the harbour. The only downsides being the disappointing size of available breakfast choices displayed. There were no breakfast cereal bowls anywhere to be seen, except for small bowls for canned fruit, the menu showed $25 for continental with plus +++++ for anything cooked, the extra $ being advised in quite small print, so be warned to read the menu properly, and leave the buffet alone, as the breakfast cost can rise significantly. The younger breakfast staff had to be asked to clear away used china and cutlery on three occasions, and walked past other tables with uncleared items etc, with only a more senior female waitress seen to always consciously clear tables after meals. The hot breakfast meals were very tasty, and well presented, so don't let any of the above put you off, they just need more training, as the hotel is lovely and a very convent place to stay in Newcastle and is highly recommended. Constuctively perhaps the F&B Mgr may have a look at the 'all inclusive' breakfast buffet of Fullerton Hotel, Martin Place Sydney.

Cool City Vibes in Newcastle

Lovely hotel with a nice ambiance. We were disappointed that the restaurant was fully booked. Our Park view room on Level 5 was nicely decorated and very comfortable. Only thing it didn’t have was a mirror in the main room (which comes in handy). The bed was comfortable and aircon was the perfect temperature.

Didn't hit the mark.

Disappointing. Room was tiny and cramped. There was underwear from previous guest left on floor beside bed, bottom sheet did not fit bed. Both reported to front desk. Could clearly hear the music from the pub downstairs and we were on level 5. Staff were excellent both at reception and in restaurant but won't be back.

The Kingsley is close to everything. I could not fault the staff for impeccable service. Though it has listed soundproof windows, it was still not immune from outside noise. One thing that customers should check, is that the quoted price from wotif matches the price paid at check-in. I am still following this up, hopefully there will be a good reason why I paid more than wotif's price.
