My stay at Hyatt House Shelton was just okay. The hotel was fully booked due to them hosting two wedding parties, so they were not able to accommodate my room request of not staying on the first floor. The room that I was booked into was next door to a noisy party. There were slamming doors until 2am. The parking situation was also a little odd. The hotel does not have enough surface lots to accommodate all of their guests, so some guests have to park in an underground structure. Overall a few inconveniences, but I still wish Hyatt House Shelton would have done better.

The website failed to mention that the hotel was under construction. The floor that our room was on was tarped off, had stacks of supplies (paint, spackle, etc.), and even a gaping hole leading directly outside that was partially boarded off. One of the elevators was broken, and the one working elevator was around a 10 minute wait constantly. We were roomed next to a loud, barking dog and were unaware that the dog-friendly rooms would be adjacent to non-dog rooms. Overall a very poor experience and would definitely not recommend.

Garage is creepy and if no parking up top have to walk up ramp to check in. My bathroom was not great, moldy picture, tiles in shower clearly cracked from a kick and ceiling had entire giant piece cut out and a new drywall piece just slapped up, not completed… creepy

The rooms are filthy and run down. There are stains on the ceiling along with patches with gaps that need to be fixed. The furniture is old and rotted away. I always use Clorox wipes to wipe everything down and the wipes were black from the dust and filth. I asked to be moved to another room because of the horrible condition of the room and they charged me more money to move to another room that was not much different. Second room also run down and not clean. The pull out bed mattress had stains and was in poor condition. Will never stay here again.

I booked this hotel on March 3, and a day before my arrival on Mother’s Day weekend (May 9th) they cancelled my reservation stating they were going through renovations. My brother got to the hotel before me for check in and that’s when we found out they had sent a message through the Expedia app the night before. The hotel was not closed, they had other guests staying and checking in but somehow they decided we were not. Still expecting a call from the manager with some kind of apology. I had to take the next available hotel in the area and pay for that stay while they processed my refund. Imagine other hotels were sold out or I did not have the means to pay for another stay? Completely unacceptable.
